Heather View Care Home

Today we threw open our doors for Care Home Open Day once again. This year celebrating art within the community. We were joined by Alessandra Testai and Robin Jeffrey this morning who performed some beautiful music for us. This afternoon and under the guidance of pottery artist Deborah Thompsett, we took to the potter's wheel and threw some clay.
Throughout the day visitors and residents enjoyed an exhibition of art and photography from GCSE students of Beacon Academy, resident artworks, stunning photography from make up artist Rachael Whiting and a selection of staff photography. Rounded off with a delicious cream tea it really has been a great day. Welcoming baby Olivia to our weekly toddler group. She brought smiles and happy memories to some of our residents this morning, whilst the older children did some arts and crafts for Fathers Day. #artytime

There's nothing quite like an impromptu dance off!! ....our residents had a ball this afternoon with the lovely Sadie who entertained us with her summer holiday show. Helped by our diva's in disguise, George and Andre, we travelled the globe and sang songs from around the world. Thankyou Sadie. Great fun had by all

There's nothing quite like a cheeky ice cream when the sun is shining.... ☀️🍦☀️🍦 so we made the most of a beautiful afternoon with a visit to the Ashdown Forest 🌲🌲🌲 Smiles all round...

Our latest addition to the home are already causing quite a stir in our reception area with their melodic sound! 🎶🎶
Pop in and see them some time. You'll certainly hear them before you see them!
Coupled with the budgies upstairs, we hope these beautiful melodic birds will help to bring the outside, inside, and a little bit of nature to some of our less able residents.

What a great afternoon we had yesterday with the Rotherfield St Martin group.......music🎶, dancing 💃 and an amazing cream tea🍰.....thank you so much for the kind invitation RSM. #Rotherfieldstmartin

What a lovely surprise for our gentleman residents today as we were treated to.... just a few.... members of the Sussex British Motorcycle Owners Club with their fab collection of vintage British motorbikes.
One resident in particular who has a passion for vintage motorbikes was sad that he could no longer attend his club....... so the club came to him!
Their visit proved popular with our other gentleman residents too as the bikes brought back many a happy memory of their ...youth.

It was party time on Friday afternoon as we said our fond farewells to our long standing receptionist, Angela.
Angela has been with us since we opened our doors in 2011. She has seen a number of changes over the years, and has mucked in and helped us out in all sorts of occasions, in particular the great flood in 2012 where we had to relocate all our residents at short notice to East Grinstead.
Angela has been a tower of strength and support, a warming smile and a listenin...g ear for many of our residents and their families over the last 7 years. It was lovely to see so many staff and families turn out to wish her well on her last day.
Angela will be returning later in the year to do some volunteering with us, but in the meantime, we wish her a very Happy Retirement.
