A great airport and staff are very kind. You do get a warm welcome feeling at T5

People usually complain about Heathrow: it is far and everything takes a lot of time. However, my experience with Heathrow Terminal 5 was the opposite: everything worked fast, there was no waiting (except for the departure gate being announced) and I was happy with the eating options as well. The only complaint I have is about the cleanliness of the toilets.

This terminal is the British Airways hub. There is NO sign to tell you which one is Economy, Business or First Class. If you are in First Class, you will go directly to the lounge right after security check. If you are in Business you have to take the elevator down and then go up, turn to the right and go up again. Yes. It is very confusing.

The airport itself is nice and modern, especially terminal 5. They, however, have some weird rules about liquids - two months ago they took from me mouthwash and contact lenses solution as their machines showed these items were dangerous. Today, they forced me to put all cosmetic into only one official Heathrow bag . As it was a bit smaller than my original bag , a container for contact lenses didn't fit. They forced me to throw it away and didn't allow me to take it on board empty . The official was embodiment of arrogance...

An amazing building. Massive structure with an intricate beautiful design, luminous, easy to navigate, well sign posted, good toilets, excellent access to public transport.

Rip off to collect someone. Shame what a lovely place to welcome you to Britain dingy car park.

Excellent overground service - stops at earlier terminals them here. It's not cheap but it's easily the fastest way to get from zone 1 to the airport or back. The addition of the service with more stops through west London is useful too. The tube is cheaper and still reliable, but nowhere near as fast.

Good concept. Shopping still dominates other needs. Like finding the gate....

I tried the Three Tuns pub located at departures on the right hand side of the terminal. I went here as the breakfast is much better than in the coffee shops in arrivals. Worth the short walk if you have time waiting to collect people from arrivals.

User

Amazing terminal, not crowded, fast connection and friendly staff. Also great British food in Huxley's.
