We're expanding! Due to popular demand, we have just been granted planning permission to expand our beautiful venue!
Work will begin this week on construction of an identical 900-year-old Norman Keep, right next to the original historic monument.
Groundskeeper, Geoff says, "I'm absolutely delighted that this project has finally been given the green light as it will mean significantly less grass to mow!"
... The local Council are backing this project all the way but are insisting that the new structure is in keeping with its original ancient surroundings.
With that in mind, we will now begin the exciting process of sourcing the relevant materials, so with that in mind, we need your help!
Do you have any 900-year-old castles near you that have an excess of bricks and stone materials? If so, then grab a wheelbarrow full and head on over to us!

We went to the Vintage Affair on Sunday and had a great time. Great music and dancers. Wonderful old cars and plenty if people in theme. One thing add a couple of extra basic food traders as the ones this year couldn't cope and were selling out of options by 1pm.

Was visiting my brother who was playing guitar in the house at the wedding fair. I got married here in 2001 and it was magical so it was lovely to revisit. My sister and I had a great time wandering around. The wedding fair was great with lots of excellent exhibitors. I have loved this castle since I was a child and it always draws me back. Never been disappointed.

Visited today with my 3 young children(boys 4 &7 yr olds and girl 6 yrs old) and all 3 loved it :) Castle grounds are beautiful and great for exploring. The knights jousting was excellent, they engaged with the audience and everyone around me were laughing booing and cheering. My 3 little ones loved the jousting so much they stayed for a second show:)

We went inside the castle and meet the invaders and defenders which my oldest loved seeing the armour and finding out about the diffrent arrows they used.

Fantastic event, well planned and organised.

User

Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. Your archery workshop was fantastic. Your archers were so accommodating of my autistic little one, much appreciated. Hope to see you again soon ÔøΩ

User

Really enjoyed walking around the gardens, sitting by the lake and visiting the castle. Yesterday, Bank Holiday Monday there was a Medeival Fayre, with Jousting Knights, Falconry, stalls, archery, musicians of the period , picnic areas and actors dressed in period costumes. It was a lovely day, the actors were great, very authentic and extremely entertaining. Hope to visit again.

My husband and I got married at Hedingham Castle on 23.06.18

We were truly lucky enough to secure one of the few remaining dates left in 2018 which in turn only gave us 3-4months to prepare!

We couldn’t have asked for a better team!

A special thank you to Lauren and Amanda- they made it so easy for us and supported us through the whole process! Most people would gasp at the thought of planning something in a short time but with the amazing team at Hedingham it was just a breeze and they were an absolute joy to work with.

The location itself I believe is the most beautiful venue where one could get married.

All our guests had an amazing time. Many of them told us that it was the best wedding they have ever been to!

We had a civil ceremony and a Hindu ceremony on the same day. The stunning interiors of the castle made a beautiful setting for both. We had both the ceremonies in different rooms and really made use of this magical venue. We were extremely lucky to have both Lauren and Amanda with us on the day and they made me like I had two of my oldest and dearest friends with me (touching up my hair when needed and even helping me with outfit changes!)

The marquee has been recently renovated and it’s the best marquee we have come across. The grounds are meticulously kept and the all the staff are just amazing!

We hired out both cottages for our guests and nobody wanted to leave at the end.

There simply aren’t enough words to describe how amazing the whole process was. Hedingham Castle is a breathtakingly spectacular venue and the dedicated team make it even better. We used their recommended suppliers for our wedding and they were also fantastic (Lewis Cabuche, Jethro, Lovely wedding touches, Cakes glorious cakes)

We couldn’t have imagined a better team.

We can’t wait to go back and visit and hope to host our 1st year anniversary party there (any excuse to go back!!)

Thank you so much!

My fiancée wanted us to marry in a castle. But I wanted somewhere intimate, personal and warm. Impossible, but Hedingham Castle is all of these things, and our day was simply perfect. The venue is visually stunning outside and in, and in great condition. The staff made everything work perfectly, through diligent planning and competent hard-working, relaxed and friendly support on the day. We were delighted also with the recommendations for catering (Splinters), DJ (Jethro), photography (Andy Griffin), flowers (Poppies Flowers) and cake (Jennifer's Cakes) - they were all to the highest standard that Hedingham delivers.

We are not habitual gushers, Hedingham and their recommended suppliers deserve all the high praise they get.

User

Loved my visit here with my 2 yr old yesterday....the knights and jousting was fantastic.....staff very helpful and grounds beautiful.

My little boy loved the donkey ride too ÔøΩ

My only down point is I have a muscle weakness disease and wasn't any seating for me so had to stand for a long time (all the picnic tables were taken and the few benches taken too) also was shocked actual cafe was inside the castle needing to go up stairs (which I can't do) but just ate outside from a stall in the end.

All in all a fab day !

I would just like to say what a lovely experience I had when I came along to the cottage at Hedingham castle to do the makeup for Laura Abbotts wedding day. I arrived before the bridal party and the lovely Charlotte was there to greet me. She was so sweet, professional and attentive and made sure that I had absolutely everything I needed. I was so impressed with the service as she stayed throughout the whole time I was there with the bride and bridal party until we were all finished and the bride was ready to leave. Charlotte was there as a helping hand offering drinks and basically being there for anything we needed.

This is something I've not had the pleasure of before when working at a wedding venue so it was a really nice touch and something I was very impressed with. Thank you Charlotte for being so wonderful. We all really appreciated how lovely and helpful you were and I really do hope to see you again in future xx

User

I visited 30 years ago on a school trip. So decided to take my three children there. Fairly cheap to get in. Castle is as good as I remember. However I think there should be more information signs telling you more about certain places in and around the castle. I will also say that maybe it would be a good idea for someone to check the admission tickets when they enter the castle as we witnessed two guys getting in free as they came through the gates before the gate attendant came on duty so were already on the premises.

I got married on the 11th July this year at St Nicholas Church in Hedingham and had our reception in the Marquee at Hedingham castle. We had a fantastic time. You get what you pay for. Location, staff, food and entertainment were second to none. Thank you Lauren.

Thank you from Clare Taylor, nee Ivory and Russell Taylor.

I got married here in 2008 and loved everything about it, beautiful venue, exceptional quality of recommended providers and well organised. People have commented over the years that it was the best wedding they've ever attended.

On Sunday day I attended the vintage affair. It was a lovely day out. Again very well organised, great atmosphere, wonderful music. I only wished they put this event on more than once a year.

User

I got married here May 2011 and has an amazing unforgettable wedding day. Great staff. We continue to visit on event days when we can and brought our son to the recent car show. It was wonderful showing him the castle and events are always reasonably priced, fun and enjoyable!

Had another cracking day out with the kids at the castle. The knights were brilliant and kept the kids entertained. Food stalls were great as was the other ones too. Staff were very helpful and friendly. All in all a great family day out. I just hope they got their owl back ÔøΩÔøΩ

Had a super family day out today at the siege. Beautiful grounds, a stunning location to bring history to life in this medieval day. We will definitely be back again

User

Fantastic day out really good organised event the jousting show was the highlight for me. Great show and very well acted. The castle is amazing and the grounds are so beautifull and well kept. Lots of stalls and eateries with lots of choice of foods.

Fab place to go in Essex. Only bad point is the parking for bikes. Not very good. They do events too. So good day out ÔøΩ

User

Came over for the medieval day on bank holiday Monday it was very impressive, all so well thought out, loads to do and learn lots. All involved happy to tell a tale or two and answer any questions. Will definately be visiting again 5 ÔøΩ

We haven't visited in a while & decide to come to the Knights jousting on Easter Monday, it was fab!!! The car parking both on arrival & departure was well organised & relatively quick.

If we have one criticism it was the lack of staff on the stairs or a one way system in that everyone went down and then up from the bottom as at times it was quite scary, especially for those with young children, may be something to look at for future events?

We had a thoroughly enjoyable day, the event was well organised and attractions spread out so people were not hemmed in & the weather was lovely. Beautiful grounds to discover too!! Thank you
