Helipaddy Description
Helipaddy is an app developed for both iOS and Android platforms that is massively enhancing helicopter trip planning. It is free to become a member and this gives you access to the online pilot dashboard as well as the apps.
The app, which is free to download, enables pilots and their passengers to find new and exciting heli-friendly locations, save their favourite sites and share sites with their friends. Pilots can see their friends' locations in real time and have access to a fully moderated database of over 5000 places to eat, stay or even just to walk the dog.
Helipaddy is also great for airfields and farm landing strips with essential information on refuelling and, especially useful in the case of French airfields, whether you can use a standard credit card. We provide the information for free for any aerodrome with an ICAO code.
When flying click the 'Safari mode' button and the map tracks you in the air, automatically popping up sites within a 2nm radius. You can then satisfy your curiosity as to the exact location of the Great Train Robbery, Camelot or the history of a particular ruined castle. There are automatic 1, 2 and 5 minute markers to help time your arrival and the ability to send a landing request to a particular establishment with one click.
There is an Events page so that airfields and other places can publish their upcoming fixtures and a system to leave a comment for other users on any pad. Events are also available online.
