Help At Hand Dog Training & Behaviour

When going to see a client earlier today, it was lovely to come across this dog. It's one of the world's very ancient breeds (so goes back centuries) and is the gorgeous Bulgarian Karakachan. Not often seen in this country so a real privilege.

It's really important to understand how much it impacts on our dogs when we are not feeling 100%, not to be had on ourselves though - just to see that the dogs can be our mirrors

Well if you live in Shropshire you will have definitely been rained on all week and perhaps your dogs aren't so keen to go out. Mental stimulation is a great way to ensure they are kept occupied and enjoying calming activities whilst finding treats.

Audrey here has some amazing owners. They are expecting a baby and have called me in to discuss a plan of action to help Audrey and the new baby settle in together as easily as possible. This is such a responsible approach and giving themselves time before the baby arrives to ensure everything is put in place is fabulous, Audrey is already doing so well with changes they are gently introducing. It does not have to be a problem when a new baby comes home, just plan ahead with myself and help it all go smoothly.

A lovely evening hosting Puppy Preschool at Medivet 24 Hour Hospital in Shrewsbury. Helping puppies calmly explore and socialise whilst we talked about many topics such as mouthing, teething, jumping up, mental stimulation, walks....and so much more.

As a behaviourist who works such a lot with rescue dogs, I see a huge amount of young dogs that come over from Ireland with behavioural concerns. Do your research and don't support this trade.

A few more from last night's Puppy Preschool evening. Lovely to have a child very calmly being a part of the enriched environment as well. Helping children at an early age understand how to interact with puppies and dogs is essential, it's all about just 'being' with the puppies and observing.

A few pictures from tonight's Puppy Preschool evening at the Medivet 24 hour Hospital Shrewsbury. Helping puppies make friends and socialise is a great way to spend an evening, and even better when helping them associate their vets with happy memories.

We were up early this morning, the sun was out and it's perfect for a treat search after a lovely sniffy walk.

A great Puppy evening with lots of important topics covered with the owners, whilst the puppies happily enjoyed their enriched environments full of interesting treats and smells in a calm way.
