Hemsley Conservation Centre

We went for our Grandsons 8th birthday treat. He did the Lemur experience and he fed them in the enclosure with the keeper. He absolutely loved it! It was a cold rainy day but we enjoyed the other animals. The meerkats were really cute!

Really educational and worth a visit. Only criticism is we had a wheelchair so it was hard to see into some of the enclosures because the fences were high (meerkats and monkey house).

Although this place is small you can get up close to the animals. Feeds go on throughout the day. Very informative. Great time. If you want to pay extra you can actually go into the enclosures to feed some of the animals.

Amazing is an understatement!! People who are disappointed by this centre know nothing of Conservation. This charming conservation centre really has the care of the animals at the heart of their centre. Each animal is tailored for and every member of staff knows each of their character and their own personal needs. The staff are knowledgeable, welcoming and to say they're friendly is an understatement. Their residence look a lot healthier than animals I have ever seen in a zoo and exhibit more natural behaviours than a lot of captive breed animals. Every resident there has a story to be told of which their keepers will be happy to tell you, making me appreciate the work they are doing even more! I had an absolutely fantastic day shadowing a keeper and just being a visitor, and I honestly cannot recommend and commended this conservation centre for everything they're doing!!

This is a very small zoo, much smaller than expected, but still worth the entry fee considering you can get up close to the marmosets and we got to stroke a skunk. This place does good work rescuing animals that were once exotic pets. Staff were very helpful and informative. They are planning to expand the zoo soon so we will be visiting again next year to see what's new. Ideal for a 1hr or so visit for animal lovers or those with kids. Would definitely recommend a visit but be aware that at the moment the only facilities are a portaloo and picnic tables

Small place with a few animals. helpful staff showing the animals was a highlight for my eldest boy.. A great place to waste an hour with the kids.
