Henderson'S Relish Description
Henry Henderson blended the first batch of his famous Relish in 1885. Over 130 years later much has changed but Hendersons has not: we are still a family business, still blending in Sheffield to Henry’s original recipe — a secret known only to three living persons.
The Dalesman Magazine named Hendo’s one of its ’Great Icons of Yorkshire’: we are proud to have been a permanent feature on Sheffield and Yorkshire tables for generations.
Our blend of tamarinds, cayenne peppers, vinegar, garlic and cloves has inspired painters and poets, songwriters and film makers. The Relish has a legion of famous fans, who spread the word all over the world.
Find out what all the fuss is about for yourself: splash a little Hendo’s on almost any dish for a fuller, richer flavour.

There's been lots of talk about whether it's manly to carry your little ones in a sling.
Of course it's manly. If you love something, keep it close.
Yes please.

the magical elicsir that makes you love Sheffield and want to stay there for ever... (and a really good relish, too!)
can't eat meat & potato pie without it! We used to take cart loads of the stuff over to family in Leeds when I was younger and Sheffield was the only place you could get it. My cousin used to put it on everything! I mean everything, even bananas!!
Wonderful stuff best thing to come out of Yorkshire since "Sir Geoffrey of Boycott"..
I use it in curries, stews, Welsh rabbit, beans on toast, etc & it makes a Bloody Mary taste so much better than that other heathen sauce!!
Only downside, as a Yorkshire exile in South Wales I can't get it here!! I have to wait until I do my monthly check up on Mam & Dad in Doncaster & stock up then!!
I've even converted my Welsh fiancée to the wonders of Henderson's Relish..
Why can't we get it in Canada? Waaaaa! Anyone got a good recipe?
Try this recipe:
* Slice then fry, two different types of quality sausage adding HENDERSON'S RELISH and if you are daring a little lavender!
* Use the same pan and cook some chopped onion and tiny pieces of broccoli heads (don't let them go soft)
* Par-boil (or microwave) some slices of potatoes (or baby potatoes halved) then put them in a hot oven for a few minutes covered in goose fat and rosemary and or sage.
* Get a big pot or better still a slow cooker and throw the lot in, add salt, pepper, (add onion salt if you have it)
* My special gravy: onion gravy prepared I then add Marmite to give it an ale taste and believe it or not a teaspoon of loose leaf earl grey tea it gives a slightly bergamot hint. If you like it simple, keep it simple - simples :)
This can be thrown together in 20 minutes and goes well with a hunk of crusty bread to dip in that fantastic gravy of mine!
We use to ship Henderson's from Sheffield to my dad in Eastbourne he had it with everything and once told a story that he and uncle Fred use to drink it neat! I now live in Buckinghamshire and found it in Harley's Hotel with my breaky after a school reunion, I ran straight to the shop over the road and brought some home for my southerner softie
partner to try.
HEAVEN & HOME are where the stomach is smiling...
Top tip: when making pizza wait til it's almost done then splash a load of Henderson's on. Stick it back in t'oven n let that shit caramelize. Enjoy... and thank me later!
The only thing you should put on your meat and tater pie or in your stew. Anything else is just scandalous. Try pickling eggs in it. I promise you won’t regret it.
The one and only relish there is no other beats it ..!
The best thing since sliced bread and it is fantastic on a plate being soaked up by some bread. Any full blown Sheffielder will tell you. You cannot be with out a bottle of the good stuff
Sheffield's black gold... everything is better with Henderson's...
Quite simply there is no finer condiment known to man.
OMG It has arrived !!!!! All the way from my home town!!! It has finally arrived !!
They export to Australia ! Ok now you big supermarkets have no excuse !!
Lea and Perrins ???? By ‘eck it’s a poor substitute for Hendos !!
I am so excited I think a little
Bit of wee may have come out !!!
No rival in the game!!! Hendos all the way. Plus it doesn't have anchovies in it!!
Live in Cape Verde so get family to bring it out with them when they come to visit. I could buy Worcestershire sauce here but it's not the same. Love it in stews, on pies, in soups & on a chip butty.
If one day in the 18th century God popped his beardy mythical face out of the clouds and decided off the cuff to create the table sauce to end all sauces, then he would have created Hendos well before the genius Mr. Henry Henderson did almost 100 years later in the Steel City...
This is the relish of Gods and Legends. Cherish it, love it and most importantly: Bow to the undisputed king of table condiments!
I love Henderson's and so does the family, we all now live in Florida but when ever friends come over we get a few bottles.
We have introduced it to our American friends who love it.
Hendo's is a Sheffield story with a happy ever after ending.
Thank u.":0)
I get mine shipped out to Dubai courtesy of friends and family ! All my mates come to mine and gobble it up !!! It's the best relish in the world !
Brought a bottle of Relish with me from Donny to an old friends bar in Milan. He's put it in prime place on his counter for making pannini!
Better than real life... literally the best moist substance since a nuns tears. If anyone says any different Jesus Christ will burn into flames and taste like a Yorkshire pudding with no gravy.
