User

The best German sausage I've had outside of Germany. Delicious currywurst, and fab fries too. Would definitely recommend.

User

Super service and as a Currywurst addict...well..unbelievable yummy sauce. We will be back. Came all the way from Cyprus to enjoy this :) Dankeschööön !

User

Small “hole in the wall” restaurant/takeout on Old Compton St. In Soho. Full German menu. Great prices (especially for London). Fantastic food and cheap wine. £12.00 for a great schnitzel sandwich, coleslaw and a big glass of Pinot Grigio! Yum!!!!

User

Schnitzel und Pommes and Augustiner Helles for me, Schnitzel sandwich and Fritz Limo for junior. Pommes for me were a little over cooked, but not so to make them unenjoyable. Served by Fritz from Freiberg, so managed to practice my German. Full marks, will be going back.

User

Made an emergency unplanned pitstop here before a show and having lived for 5 years in Germany our expectations were high and they didn't disappoint! If you're looking for delicious authentic fast German food and drinks with good fast service look no further. Would definitely make the effort to find again. 9/10 xx

User

It's a little bit of nostalgia for me as I used to go to Germany fairly often as a child. The flavours of the sausage and the curry were spot on! The fries were very nice too and the drinks excellent. It wasn't busy (we were the only customers for a while) but the staff were attentive, relaxed and friendly. Over all, a really nice stop in a rainy day. Oh, and the Boney-M on the sound system was a bonus for this 80s oldtimer.

User

I love this place. I’ve never had a bad meal. Always exactly as I remember, if not better.

I always go to the Soho branch and can vouch for the quality there.

Wilde Bock Roll is by far the best thing in the main menu in my opinion.

Keep it up guys!

User

Herman ze german has Great food and atmosphere.

Superb place to visit with friends or family. will definately vist and eat here again

User

Additive to my first message here is some important Information. To all of You, who told us, that the Pommes (you may also say "chips") are "overcooked" (they are not cooked - they Tool a bath in hot oil) this is the only correct way to serve this delicious fast food... the way we have taken knowledge with other chips in England - you call it better "medium rare fries" or boiled potatoe-slices...Bon Apetit!

"We do not want a united Germany," Margaret Thatcher told President Gorbachev at a lunch meeting in the Kremlin in September 1989, "Such a development would undermine the whole international situation and could endanger our security." While the military threat was unfounded, the economic consequences remain subject to debate. In the meantime the currywursts at Herman ze German allow Londoners a positive insight into the possibilities that a prosperous and peaceful united Germany can bring. If future turmoil can be resolved over a foaming mug of lager and a sausage, we are all winners in the end.

User

Small seating area, with an authentic selection of German food. Even the drinks are imported from Germany. About £10 for most meals, great price for Soho.

User

When your USP is that your sausages are all gluten free it seems ridiculous that you don't offer gluten free buns in any of your delis!! Please reconsider this so that everyone can enjoy a hot dog in a bun.

User

Well been there yesterday and really did look forward to it but thoroughly dissapointed. I ordered small Currywurst with Chips....as it got to my table it did look thrown into the serving dish 😒Way too much Pommes Salz on the overcooked Pommes. The Wurst was not browned off properly neither. I would not rush back... staff seemed friendly but they enjoyed to speak to their friends more than their customers and as we ate in I am not so sure if I like to listen to One direction on repeat. As a fellow German you let yourselves down guys. The two stars I awarded were for the Fritz Cola which I haven't tasted in years!

User

We sat down and waited to be served only to find out (eventually) you have to order at the counter. This is not very clear to visitors? So the waiter wanders around not doing much? Ordered two "Mild - medium strength Currywursts mit Pommes" (Frau ist German!). The order came quite quickly to our table. Looked rather nice, but the Currywurst didn't taste like any we'd ever had before in Germany? My wife was convinced the sausage was covered in Zigeuner sauce? Either way I have now mouth ulcers this morning. It was far too spicy. The chips were very crunchy and not very nice either. Unfortunately we left nearly all the meal and left unimpressed and hungry. Such a shame as German food can be so good when done well. Also not very good German style service. Hindsight says I should have complained, but we just wanted to leave and find somewhere else to eat before returning home.

User

We are germans ourzelf. I am a bit dizapointed becauze they gave uz a free beer what waz a good zing but when we gave the closed can of beer to other english guezts they took it away from them. Thatz not the german art of “ausgeben”

User

They sell a vegan sausage but sadly staff who do not understand when you ask for it. I was given meat sausage instead. Shocking. I realised only when i bit into it as it was disguised with sauce.Absolutely devastating. This happened to a friend of mine also, only a few weeks before. I will never risk eating here again and will urge others the same.

User

Rude and unhelpful staff. Don’t know how to treat disabled customers. Cold sausages. Overpriced.

User

Normally I do like HZG but again there was no chicken schnitzel.

Then the guy behind the till managed to have 2 out 3 orders other wrong. That that was right got however a wrong plate delivered. This was 30 May around 7.45pm. Thumbs down for the arrogant guy

User

I was there last night in the Soho restaurant.

For me it's a complete rip off!

£10 for a sausage with bread and some dried onions.

Really not worth £10 at all!
