On Friday 29th June, a group of Year 4 students took part in our annual camp on our school field. Everyone had a wonderful time toasting Smores and being thoroughly entertained by Mr Jones, our resident fire juggler! Thank you so much to all the parents who helped in the morning - it made a huge difference!

SUPPORTING CHARITIES Can We Raise Enough Money to Throw Mr Markham Out of a Plane?! Mr Markham is aiming to try and avoid being thrown out of a plane on June 30th ! If the school raises £1,000 or more for the local charity FitzRoy, which supports vulnerable adults, then Mr Markham will be taken in a plane to 10,000 feet over Salisbury Plain and launched out of the plane in a tandem skydive. The school will have a Mufti Day to support this venture on Friday June 15th where there will also be some stalls selling cakes etc. In the meantime, if you’d like to make a donation, please click on the link below:

Girls’ Football Team 3rd Place South & West Reginal Final Winners!
Our Girls’ Football team took part in the South & West Regional Finals in Bristol on Saturday. It was an incredibly tense and exciting day! After winning our first match 1-0 against Wiltshire, we lost to Somerset by an unlucky penalty, 1-0. The next game was against the Channel Islands which we won 1-0. This left the last group game against Devon, which after a strong performance, we finished 0-0. It was the...n down to points, then head to head result, then goal difference – we had everything crossed!!
Finally the results were in and Herne had come top of our group – we were heading to the Semi-Finals! The match was against Park Primary from Gloucestershire, but unfortunately, after a gallant effort, we lost 1-0. It was not over yet as we continued the race for 3rd and 4th place. It was nail biting stuff, with the Gloucestershire game heading into extra time, then penalties and finally sudden death! The final score was 3-2 (sudden dealth penalties) to Herne! The girls played amazingly and worked so well as a team!
Well done girls for being the Hampshire Champions and for playing with such pride today. You are all winners and we are extremely proud of you all! We would also like to thank the parents for their support!
Team Members Well done to, Mia Kowalczyk, Libby Guest, Victoria Band, Zahra Williams, Erin Sherwood, Honey Bond, Katy Bravery, Hattie Bond, Phoebe Green and their Team Manager Mr Castle!

Scott of the Antartic - Sport Relief 2018 We were incredibly lucky to be joined by Scott Heffield, an ex-marine, who works alongside Bear Grylls on all of the adventure programmes on TV. Scott gave the children a talk about his extreme adventures, TV work and included some delicacies that adventurers have to eat when they’re in the wild. Some of the children volunteered to eat crickets, meal worms and other delights! Two staff members were invited to eat live mealworms but only Mr Jones rose to the challenge!! Together we raised a fantastic £501.53 and Fir class raised an amazing £55 on their own!

UPDATED - Herne’s Got Talent What a wonderful night! Well done to Amy, Lea, Jasmine, Imogen, Mia and Carolyn (Year 6) for coming first with their beautifully creative dance routine. Second place went to Alana (Year 6) for a lovely song from Moana and joint third place was awarded to Joe (Year 3) for his amazing dance to Shake it Off by Taylor Swift and Eilidh (Year 3) for her entertaining trumpet and comedy routine – we are so sorry for missing your name before!
Well done to... all the acts that performed last night, it was an extremely hard decision for the judges. We are so proud to have such talented pupils and we must say a massive thank you to The Friends of Herne for organising this successful event and for The Petersfield School for hosting the event at The Studio. We couldn’t have done it without all the adult help and technical support.
