Went in for the first time on Monday afternoon after walking the dog and was such a lovely atmosphere, can't beat an open fire. So much so we asked the lovely waitress Marie-Claire about the availability of booking in for Valentine's evening on the Tuesday. She was very professional, polite and really friendly.... So we booked. We went in on the Tuesday and the same waitress served us and made it a lovely evening. The food was awesome and well worth the money. We had the 3 course set menu and although we couldn't fit in the dessert the waitress made them up to take away. Marie-Claire is a credit to the restaurant, if I could give more stars I would * * * * * * *

We went to the Hesketh a group of 21 on a Friday night. Considering it was such a big group everything was fabulous the food the service could not fault any of it. Would highly recommend it thanks for making our night so memorable

User

On a holiday trip to the area and my wife's first sunday roast lunch in the UK. We both loved it. Food really nice and the service top class. Well done.

User

Mother’s Day meals for 9 of us. The service was great and so was the food. Nothing too much trouble! Thanks to all at the Hesketh once again.

User

Just been to Sunday lunch here with family; haven't been for a long time - what's happened? Is it under new management? It was FABULOUS! Previously it was quite good, but this was the best meal I have had in a pub in years. Will definitely be back! Keep up the good work, folks!

User

I recently went for lunch expecting an average meal and I was very pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. They even had real chips! The staff are always lovely and kids food was really nice. I will definitely be back.

User

I have just been to the hesketh arms on Sunday for a family roast, it was a lovely experience from start to finish, it's the nicest roast I've had in a long time , and perfectly presented, the staff were warm and friendly they couldn't do enough for us, it's a lovely place I will definitely be coming back and telling all my friends , highly recommended .

User

Another excellent meal. We took our 86 year old uncle our for Sunday lunch. His verdict was the best apple pie he has ever had. Mine, as a lactose and gluten free diner loved the fact I can have the lovely coconut milk.sorbet. Usually its no pudding for me. The roast meats were all great and super Yorkshires for those that can indulge. The service was excellent. One waitress remembered me and my dietry requirments from my one previous visit 6 weeks earlier which was impressive. Couldn't fault it. And prices very reasonable too!

User

We are new to the area and this our third visit to the pub. Everybody was happy with the food except me. I had the Hunters chicken and found it very dry and difficult to eat. As usual however, the service was brilliant and I can only have praise for the girls who were very professional under very busy sircumstsnces.

Booked a table for 5 after a day at Southport flower show. We were seated for 6 .15.had to wait till 7 before our food was served. I ordered a 8oz rump steak.a good third of witch was grizzel.recieved an apology from the manager. But in all fairness the rest of the food was well received. Would go again.

12 of us descended on the pub, 6 adults and 6 children, on a VERY bust New Years Day. We ended up sat on 3 different tables (our own fault for not booking) and when we ordered food the staff were very helpful and accommodating.

We expected the food to take a while but we were very pleased when the food arrived quickly and the staff were willing to help the right meal find the right person.

I have to say it wasn't the best meal I've had at the Hesketh, we've had plenty as its our local, but we could imagine the kitchen was under a lot of strain because of how busy it was. A pleasant meal, in a cosy and inviting pub with a great family atmosphere.

User

its a lovely looking pub, i live ten minutes away and its never first choice for beer or food!.

i had a stone baked pizza it was ok and thats what you get with the hesketh.very fresh but not enough toppings for £10.95.

service is fine but would i rush back? no i would'nt.

User

Not sure of it has changed hands recently, as we had previously enjoyed a few meals there, but that will be my last visit.

Very poor service and less than average food.

None of the food was very warm, and so was cold very quickly.

My friend ordered seasoned chips - on the menu you can can choose from chips or seasoned fries. When we got them they were overcooked fries with no seasoning. But when she said to the waiter she had ordered seasoned fries, he told her to put salt and pepper on the ones she had ....

Then she asked the other barman if she could have some chili sauce - bearing in mind our table was next to the kitchen, and he had just walked out of kitchen, and he said 'yes just let me check the bar first " and then ran off to the empty bar and didn't come back !

All a bit shabby and frankly there are better pubs with better food and service for the same money.

User

Great pub for its country pub feel and atmosphere, bar staff are great and the beer is good. We have eaten here a few times and it's average at best. Usual chain grub. I live 2 minutes walk away and have probably eaten here 5 times in 11 years. There are just too many good places to eat in the village and locally to put up with average food. Still love this place, just for a drink though

User

Started going back to eat at here because it is now "dog friendly". We waited 45 minutes for the first course, flat breads and dough sticks. Don't know why it took so long as the pub wasn't especially busy. The menu seems more limited now. I had a vegan burger, which wasn't as described in the menu, not with a dip. The food was tasty, but did feel as we were in the naughty corner with the dogs and forgotten about as the waitress kept disappearing.

User

Really bad today from a local pub...the food was cold, burger tasteless, fish soggy and mush.... but the chicken pie was good

User

Had the chicken pie meal and it was liked tinned chicken with bit of pastry on the veg was tasteless and the so called mash was microwave rubbish and a smile of the waitress wouldn't of gone a miss won't recommend and won't return

User

Booked table for 8pm through website. Arrived and bought drinks. Seated at 7.40. Was told all roasts had gone and to choose from new menu. Lady then advised only limited items left. This pub serves till 10pm yet runs out of food! Waste of time and effort so left drinks and departed. This is the second time in a row the same thing has happened.

User

Been here before obviously because it's my local but tonight the food and service was dreadful. We waited over an hour for the starter and then had to send it back because it has been reheated in the microwave was dried and just about warm. Main course was not in anyway nice and desperate to have something that I could eat ordered dessert of rubharb crumble where rhubarb was just shy of raw. Not recommend at all.
