Hessian & Indigo

Hope all you Yarn Bombers had a great holiday weekend. With exactly 8 weeks to go until we yarn bomb Tring we need to get our needles and hooks out and get stitching!
At the meeting last week various people/groups 'adopted' items of street furniture to dress up in their own style, for example, High St Baptist Church are doing one of the bus stop benches and the Stitch & Bitch group have adopted the two lamp posts.
Knitted squares will be used to make covers for some of th...e other benches but it would be great to have more community groups putting their own stamp on the event. If you are connected to a club or a school and want to have a bench of your own then please let us know by the end of this week. You can do whatever you like, the wilder the better!
Other items such as the post box and the archway to the Church path will be decorated with the crocheted granny squares that some of you are making.
All the 17 bollards in the Church Square will have a knitted jester hats but we do need lots of pom-poms for their pointy bits so any school clubs that want to get involved can make pom-poms to their hearts content.
A couple of machine knitters are making the huge scarfs to cover the two large pillars in the bus stop and if you like knitting or crocheting flowers it would look great to stitch these on to the pillars too.
We also want to festoon the inside of the bus stop with knitted and crocheted bunting, tassels and pom-poms. (See pics for ideas)

To all Yarn Bomb Tring members... Hilary and I thought it would be good for as many of us as possible to get together next week to share ideas, patterns and put plans into action. Join us at Bishop Wood School on Wednesday 29th April at 8pm for a glass of wine and nibbles. Don't worry, it's not a committee, it would just be nice to meet everyone sooner rather than later. Note for your diaries that Yarn Bomb Tring day is 29th June and we are thinking of meeting again for the big 'sew together' on 17th and 24th June. xx

Calling all knitters and crocheters... As part of the official Tring Charter 700 celebrations Hession & Indigo are Yarn Bombing the town square on Charter Day, Monday 29th June. If you can knit a simple garter st square, crochet a granny square or make a pom-pom please join the Yarn Bomb Tring! group for more information.

At The Lady Shed we all loved the cakes that Sophie and Hilary made to raise funds for Autism Awareness week.

Celebrating International Yarn Bombing Day 2013

Hilary and Sally look forward to welcoming friends to the "Lady Shed" next Wednesday morning and evening for the first of the new drop-in needlecraft sessions. So that we know how many cakes to bake please call/text/e-mail by 4pm on Tuesday if you would like to come along. Bring a project of your own or buy a kit from Hessian & Indigo, either way, we are on hand to help you develop your needlecraft skills. (Session fee is £5 plus a donation for refreshments).

We are looking forward to lots of knitting and nattering in the Lady Shed on Saturday 16th February. Let’s hope we don’t drop too many stitches… we’ll let you know how we get on. S&H
