At Hickory’s Smokehouse we are fanatical about flames; silly about smokers and utterly obsessed with the smells, tastes and traditions of the Deep South. Our smokin' hot menu is available from 9am – 11pm every day. Our menu includes smokehouse classics from ribs and Texas style beef brisket to the ultimate Smokehouse Platter. With steaks, fajita’s, skewers, Southern fried chicken and impressive selection of burgers Southern food is simply glorious and offers something for everyone. We’re family-friendly with a specially designed kid’s menu that includes ‘grown-up’ tastes and some fun healthy options, so the entire family can experience the flavours of the deep South. We keep the little ones entertained with table top fun and their very own cinema room! Our impressive drinks list is bursting with interesting mixes and classic cocktails, we’re mad for milkshakes and soda’s too. From easy-drinking session ales to cask ales and craft beers, you’re just as welcome to join us in the bar for a drink as in the restaurant for breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner.

Garlic mushroom to start. Lovely , the I went for a half stack ribs (dry) her indoors had chicken We both know we will go back next time in Chester which maybe next year but would use this eatery again , On the river too lovely place
One of the best smokehouses I’ve been to!! Can highly recommend the steaks and the belly pork. The ribs are good too � special thanks to Chloe who looked after us!!! We will be back next time we are down
Just had a very nice meal today on fathers day. We didn't book but the very nice man working outside managed to fit us in, as he did the week before. Thanks very much. Couple of issues with our food but sorted in a few minutes and taken off our bill. Great service and lovely food, I would definitely go again. Thanks hickorys x
I had the avocado and watermelon salad, hubby had a hickory burger and daughter had waffle with chicken and bacon. All fabulous , service efficient and staff friendly and informative. First time for all of us would go back.
Had a fabulous night away in Chester topped off by a trip to the Hickory Smoke restaurant! Loved the location, the food was super tasty and all the staff were so friendly. Would definitely return with my daughters, my eldest loves country music. See you on our next trip, thank you for making us feel so welcome!
Had a excellent time yesterday at Hickory’s for my birthday and my two nephews, food is brilliant well worth the money and the staff were excellent. We will back back for the next birthday meal in August xxx
Great food, beef brisket and Memphis Ribs is a must, staff very attentive, not over priced, well worth the visit
First time here for me my partner treated me to a birthday meal and it was lovely. I had belly pork and partner had Kansas full rack ribs.. followed by chocolate brownies..Wow! It was very busy but service and staff were great. We will be going back �
Came to Chester for a week away from work... me and my partner visited this place twice in 2 days... and it was worth every penny.. the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was un-believeable I'm really jealous there isn't one of these places near Carlisle... Thank you so much for looking after us during our visit
Ate here sat night around 7pm same night England played in World Cup quarter final so turned up with out table booked and got in with only 20min wait which was amazing our friends took us here one of their fav places in Chester we are from Sheffield so had no idea of places to eat food was fantastic service was very good not over bearing enough to make our vist perfect enjoyed our meals and great night out too
Always fantastic food here but feel the need to review tonight after visiting with friends and our 3 dogs! Had no idea it was so dog friendly (outside areas but it’s covered and still very comfortable!) - the staff were amazing and even brought some treats for our 4 legged friends! Superb evening thanks to such great service, thank you to all the team!! �
7 of us came last night for 2 friends birthdays. Food was amazing. Service was amazing. Our waitress was called Leah and nothing was too much trouble for her (and we were quite demanding at times) so when she said she was still training we would never have known. Keep up the good work we will be back.
Nice place on the river. Shame there isn't more around it. Good atmosphere with mostly friendly staff.
Food was good, huge portions.

Always great food & reasonably priced too. The Kansas ribs are delicious & the churros are amazing. Unfortunately, their new starter, Creole King Prawns (4 for £7.50) was a total disappointment. Completely tasteless (unsure what happened to the avocado & cilantro dressing!!!) & extremely fiddly as the shells were still left on.
Had pulled pork, first bite was mostly fat so was put off for rest of it. Baked beans. Milkshakes were ok, but not amazing.
Finally decided to go try Hickory’s, see what all the fuss was about. Arrived for lunch, got seated, waited 30 mins for our drink to arrive. Once drinks did arrive the pint of lager fell from the tray all over my pants and foot...I was given a sheet of paper towel to dry myself off and the pint was replaced....now sat wet and nearing an hour since we arrived, the food was finally served. Thankfully the food was great, very tasty but that’s it. We Waited for plates to be cleared so we could request the bill...no one came so we had to stand and wait by a till until eventually a staff member came and took money from us, no comment about whether everything was ok, no deduction of the drink from bill as a goodwill gesture....leaving feeling very frustrated and wet and won’t be returning in a hurry!
I went for lunch on Monday and was shown to my table. No complimentary popcorn was out on the table but every one else around had some. We waited a while for the waiter to come over, who was nice and friendly. I Ordered fajitas and cheesy chips and although the portions where a good size... the taste wasn’t all that good and the skillet was mostly just onions and a few pieces of steak. The cheesy chips had gone hard because it had been left for a while I presume and my Coca Cola was pretty flat. I could understand if it was very busy but it was only in the afternoon and was quite quiet. Sorry to be leaving a negative review but my meal wasn’t up to standard for hickory’s.. I have been multiple times before and it has been really nice.
Would not recommend this place at all. Drove a long way and was disappointed. Food was average for the price of it and the chips you could snap in half they were that over cooked. Nobody came round only to collect the plates so by that point we had finished the rest of the meal. Waitress told us she would pass the message on, not apologetic at all. Then another guy come round to say sorry and to take 2 drinks off the bill...we don't drink so it was 2 cokes, which hardly makes up for it. Had to get up to pay the bill. Left feeling disappointed and won't be returning.
