OUR FIELD 🌱
Having only acquired it a year ago this week!
We have worked tirelessly to restore it to its former glory.😀... Previously it hadn’t been cut for years nor the river bank looked after. The year has seen us plant over 300 trees around the border, sure up weak spots in the river bank, fish out fallen trees, repairing the public footpath and unblocking obstacles. Not to mention digging out poison Hemlock (Conium Maculatum) by hand. 🤦‍♂️ We have cleared out the Scott’s pine/ European Larch copse allowing light and space into a previously light suppressed area (untouched for 40 years. 🌳🤗 All this said there is still plenty more to do but at least it is now a very useable asset to @hiddenvalleybushcraft and our #woodlandwarriorprogramme . A massive thankyou to all those (you know who you are) who have helped get it to this point 🙏
There is still much to do including sorting the surrounding drainage ditches which are still rather full of debris (on the list) As well as the creation of CAMP 2 , archery range and a wellbeing trail through the pine copse (on the list) and much more 💪🌳⚔️🇬🇧 Endeavour Fund

THE POWER OF COMMUNITY
A few weeks before the covid 19 pandemic struck the planet we were lucky enough to be visited by “Bob and Fi”. A fantastic couple who were introduced to us through one of the veterans of our woodlandwarriorprogramme .... Together they repaired, restored and re-sited all of our bird boxes here in the woodland. 🌳 Today I can confirm I saw many of these boxes in use 🤗

HOME ALLOTMENT 🏡 Having decided to turn our front garden into a growing space for fruit and vegetables, I have spent today mowing, cutting and bodging . As always following our reuse, repurpose and recycle mantra, we achieved this on an absolute shoestring budget using up every piece of buckshee timber in the garage . 🤣🤗 Hopefully by the end of tomorrow we will have three full sized beds filled and planted up 🌱

“A good recce is seldom wasted”☝️ After many recent requests Nick Goldsmith has been busy preparing to run our usual SpringTime foraging courses here in the valley. Foraging is Great Way to supplement your weekly shop all year round 🤗
... In these uncertain times we will obviously be following government guidelines of social distancing and adjusting accordingly. Being both a qualified professional chef and ethnobotanist the course will cover foraging law trees, plants and flowers, with focus on their chemical constitutes and relationships to us as humans historically eg food and medicines. In addition to safe identification of these he will cover some of the common poisonous specimens often known to cause miss identification at this time of year. Dates TBC

BREAKING OUT THE THIN BREW LINE Tactical Tea alongside our Green Beret Coffee for the Avon and Somerset Police Federation Woodland Warrior Workshop today.
We run workshops with small numbers so we can guarantee a high quality experience for everyone attending but it also makes it harder for germs to spread.
... In fact research shows that outdoor air is a natural disinfectant and can kill some harmful germs.
We will continue to monitor the Covid -19 situation but as it stands we will still be operating courses at Hidden Valley during these unusual times 👍🌳

We have some more news! 🤗
We have teamed up with an amazing couple who quite literally won the wilderness!!
Mark and Emily recently took part in the TV show Win The Wilderness: Alaska on BBC2. They were fortunate enough to win and now own an amazing house on Ose Mountain in Alaska.
... The house is totally off grid and in the middle of no where. It is so remote that it can only be accessed by a 15 day trek or via a bush plane.
It was built by hand by two remarkable people Duane and Rena Ose. Duane is a US Veteran and so inspired by this, Mark and Emily wanted to offer this location to our wounded injured and sick veteran community.
We are delighted to say that they have asked us to work with them on this little (or rather large!) project.
We are at early stages of planning at the moment but we will provide you with updates as and when we can!
