HRC's chairman at British Rowing's HQ in Hammersmith working with them to create a national survey of the country's rowing clubs on how they interact with nature conservation bodies. Next step is to present the results to DEFRA so they can tell the nation's conservation bodies to also take account of the health of humans as well as that of wildlife before the NHS collapses under the weight of the obesity epidemic....

12 of us went to the Cambridge rowing tank in Downing College boathouse to be coached by Ian Watson, an ex-GB oarsman and the current Downing College coach. Sadie, an ex-Downing College rower, organised the day and we all had an excellent time. We also learnt how to improve our rowing technique. The day was founded rounded off with an excellent pub lunch in the Fort St George on the banks of the Cam. We'll definitely be doing all this again in the near future.

Fantastic rowing at HOAC in the lovely sunshine. Had to wait for about half an hour on Saturday for the mist to clear before we could go out but it was OK by 9am. Boated a senior sweep 4, a senior quad and a women's junior quad. Fantastic row again on Sunday in the warm sunshine in sweep fours, training for the Vesta Vets Head at the end of March. The outing was followed by bagels supplied by Simon Miller. A superb weekend!

Huge kudos to Brendan Buckley, Murat Mendi, Ruth Henry & Ali Hustwick (Jon Neale coxing) for the mammoth rowfest that was the Molesey Vets Head Explore Rowing event today. This was a 3.25km race which involved a bottom-numbing total row of about 18km (that's about 11 miles post-brexit). This involves rowing through a lock and back. Impressive performance from all!!

Our HRC chairman has been hobnobbing around Westminster again today with his 'Parliamentary Group for Rowing' tie on lobbying for HRC....

Brendan & Jon in front of the new lake. We had a row at HOAC this morning (Jon, Brendan, Monica, Michelle and Matthias) followed by lunch in McDonald's then a walk to the new lake.

User

Too icy for the lake today so ergos followed by a row on the Thames at Chiswick....

Santa Row at Goring Gap Boat Club.
A fantastic Santa Row with all the trimmings was had up at Goring Gap Boat Club's new facility on the Thames near Pangbourne. Hillingdon Rowing Club and Reading Rowing Club were amongst the numerous clubs taking part in the festive activities. Events such as the 'Singing Exhibition Row' where HRC sang the words of 'Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer' each in turn down the boat's crew were held. HRC members also had the chance to row in an eight with the Goring Gap Boat Club members. Obviously the mulled wine flowed as did the bacon sarnies and, of course, the mince pies and a good time was had by all.
