A SCITT (School Centred Initial Teacher Training) is a school that can accredit Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in partnership with a consortium of Primary & Secondary Schools who are committed to providing a high quality training environment for trainee teachers.

A SCITT course is based and run by schools. Training is led by experienced practicing teachers and school leaders.

Training as part of a SCITT gives you the opportunity to learn on the "job".

The training course lasts from September to June and combines school -based classroom practice with theoretical learning leading to trainees achieving QTS (Qualified teacher Status). The course may also lead to a PCGE (Post Graduate Certificate in Education) validated by a Higher Education Institution)

Teaching practice takes place in two or more schools, with main placement and a shorter second placement in contrasting school.

Assessment is through classroom observations, portfolios and written assignments.
