Where to start with this fantastic local pub - superb customer service was the biggest reason for the 5* great food and an all round brilliant visit. First time since the refurbishment, loved the menu and great choice. Food was superb. What made this pub was the great staff. A lovely lady bought the toddler in the family a bowl of ice cream (and didn't charge) a lovely thought and much appreciated. All staff were brilliant and we will definitely return soon :)

Me and my husband went in for our dinner tonight was very impressed with the new decor,,the staff were very polite and the new menu is awesome enjoyed my meal and my husband was impressed with the gluten free menu ...so keep up the good work and well done to the cheif look forward to trying more of the menu thanks again generous George

Last minute booking for 11, for a birthday. Table was ready with balloons and "diamonds", staff were attentive and happy, food was ace (no-one, even the professional chef in our party!) had a bad word. Lovely relaxed atmosphere, one of the best party meals we have had. Thank you for making our celebration perfect :)

Came in for Christmas dinner today with the family. I couldn't have asked for a better day. The service was amazing, the food was absolutely out of this world and there was no urgency to get us out of the door when we'd finished either

Amazing pub and food. Never unsatisfied, perfect for the family. Children are always welcome and staff are always very friendly and helpful, great service nothing is too much trouble.

I have not said anything for a long while now, but I am disgusted with the way the staff at the Hilton brook ‘generous George’ have behaved. I drank in here most weekends with only living 5 minutes away. However one night I was given a £20 note that was fake. I had no knowledge of this and handed it over innocently, to later find out that it was a fake. This was given to me by a member of my family who is elderly who had got the money out of a cash point and was very distressed to hear it was not real. Therefore we wanted the fake £20 back to check any others she had taken of of the ATM were okay, with this never happening to any of us before we didn’t know what to do. This was refused and fair enough it is pub policy however we were stressed and confused and got into a disagreement where a family member took the money back out of a staff members hand. Nothing else happened and we left the premises. I have tried twice to apologise and communicate with the owners who have dismissed me and not let me speak each time telling me I am indefinitely band. My family and I are not the kind one of people to do this kind of stuff. And I think it is extremely disappointing that I have openly tried to speak with management about this matter and not been allowed back in however known drug dealers and people who were sacked for certain reasons and banned for life are now allowed back on the premises.

I love the new decor, food ok my partner food was good but my steak was burnt to a crisp I wanted med to well not burnt. Chips overdone too but hopefully that just teething problems as it was very busy.....staff very friendly

Don't go very often, not had food so can't comment on that. Drinks overpriced like all chain pubs, staff seem friendly. But when I went and spoke to manager about the fact none of the ladies toilet doors locked he just didn't care. I'm aware it's something you cannot fix there and then and wasn't expecting it to be. But a little bit of respect for female customers would be nice.

Been before and the gluten free menu was paper, I thought it was amazing and had sausage and mash and it was lovely! This time I got given an iPad, which only listed the sides I could have. I noticed it said bread and bagels, so I decided to ask for a burger. Was told no, and the manager (I assume) was very off the with me, she was stand offfish and just stared me out. So I felt like a pain, and went for the sausage and mash as she wasn't helping and I knew it would be ok. It came, and they were the most limp and lifeless sausages I've ever seen. They were black on the outside and I don't think even cooked through. I didn't touch them. Every one else's meal looked AMAZING. just because I'm gluten free doesn't mean I should be shoved to the bottom of the pile! Our server was very young, nervous and shaky, so I didn't want to cause a fuss. I wont be returning, and it's such a shame as it used to be so good.

Been a few times before & the meal has been OK but last night's meal was a total letdown & will not be going again.

is this a local pub or a restaurant? can't sit down on a table as they are all booked! turned up at 17.30 and a table was booked for 17.00 but they hadn't turned up.. went to sit down to be told by some rude bloke! we would have to move incase they turned up! over priced! rude staff! no place to sit! whats the point! not impressed you have now lost my custom!

We walked in today for lunch, there were no bar staff. One girl was serving food to tables, never acknowledged is with a sorry won't be long. Hasten to add we walked out. Really poor customer service.

Only one person behind the bar as usual with a massive queue forming. The manager came on and served the locals instead of the people in the queue. No panic, no rushing and no apologies for the wait. Then to be told 30 minute wait for food. Absolute joke of a place.

Needs more staff on, 4 times been in, 4 times had to leave and go elsewhere, really needs addressing
