Hinchingbrooke Hospital

The care I received here was absolutely brilliant. I was seen shortly upon arrival (from a 5* ambulance) into A&E after which the staff checked up on me regularly. I had a decent cup of tea an hour in and the staff remained smiley and attentive throughout. Following a battery of tests, I was diagnosed and discharged a few hours later. If this is what we can expect from a 'failing hospital' I can only imagine the standard of care people get at other hospitals.

It may have helped that on the 23rd of December there didn't seem to be many patients to A&E. Apparently this time of year people only visit when they have genuine accidents and emergencies.

Thank you to all involved, again. :-)

I've never experienced such a woeful level of indifference. It wasn't for the lack of staff, there always seemed to be plenty around, they just didn't seem to care. Everything was done to the bare minimum. I watched patients left on toilets and comodes for up to 15 minutes after calling for assistance while nurses and care staff stood and chatted. I found a bedpan under my Mother that had been there for at least 3 hours. I watched a patient call for help then be sick all over themselves after none came, and some of the sick stayed on the floor for 2 days, until a norovirus scare when the floor was mopped 3 times in 2 hours. I watched an agency nurse leave all the patients notes on my Mothers bed, one nurse tell a patient she wasn't paid to smile, and were I not there to feed my Mother and wait until she woke upto give her her tablets she wouldn't have eaten or taken her medication. The gents toilets were so smelly sometimes I had to hold my breath. It's a shame as there are a few really good nurses and a couple of doctors holding that place together while the rest just couldn't give a damn. Appalling.

My mother was treated for serious cancer. Care was very good and food is excellent for a hospital. Best hospital in the area. Like all NHS hospitals it's struggling with huge demand from aging and growing population but they are certainly dedicated and committed team.
