We are an independent charity. Working with disadvantaged & vulnerable young people across Shropshire; also operating a vibrant & busy venue in Shrewsbury!
Hive Shrewsbury Description
An introduction to the Hive as your venue for entertainment and the arts.
The Hive’s venue programme varies from cinema to live theatre, language classes to toddler groups, life drawing sessions to holiday workshops, open mics through to wrestling, plus world-class jazz and folk concerts – with lots more too!
As a venue, we believe we have continued to strengthen the Hive’s position as one of Shropshire’s premier locations for quality entertainment and aim to offer cultural opportunities to cater for all interests.
We look forward to welcoming you to Shropshire’s hidden gem and encourage you to discover just how much is on offer. You can keep up to date with all the latest news via our website and social networks.
However we are not just an arts venue in Shrewsbury! The Hive is very proud of its creative work with children and young people.
The Hive is committed to a pedagogic approach as a first principle of our outreach work with children and young people. Our focus is on the support for a child’s overall development, the emphasis is on team work, collective and reflective practice and a greater understanding of children’s rights and contributions to society.
The Hive works closely with partner agencies to set up projects and programmes that give young people – particularly those who are at risk, vulnerable or living in challenging circumstances - the opportunity to participate in creative activity - this could be music, dance, animation, film-making, theatre, crafts or visual arts – our mission is to enable young people to engage in positive arts and cultural experiences provided by the Hive across Shropshire.
Whilst you read our case studies, browse the Hive website and interact through our social networks, we would appreciate you taking some time to consider how you might wish to get involved in supporting young people in Shropshire realise their creative ambitions.

'Fly Away' is a project for young people aged 11 to 18 including Young Carers, Looked After Children and LGBT young people.
The project is a series of music workshops and masterclasses at The Hive in which the young people compose, record and perform their own original songs based on their life experiences.
This project runs until the end of May 2019 and is funded by The National Lottery Community Fund.
