Another busy productive week at Hiz & Herz Personal Training, just finished training our last 3 clients off the week, studio all cleaned and ready to go for our first clients on Monday 6.30am nice and early ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ.
This week was client challenge week having to complete one of our Drop Set A.M.R.A.Pโ€™s which consisted of a massive 180 reps per round, we involved all clients with both Strength or Cardio based goals. Top of the strength AMRAP for our male clients was Simon Brown... ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ Top of the strength AMRAP for our female clients was Elizabeth Clarke ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ with a close second from Rachel Downs
Top of the cardio AMRAP for our male clients was Stef Bensi ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ’ช and second was Jake.
Top of the cardio AMRAP for our female clients was Judith Bensi ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™€๏ธ and second was Sam Lunn
A massive well done to all of our clients who took part, who keep on amazing / impressing us with their commitment and improved fitness / strength levels.

Today I did some body conditioning Which helps improve strength, fitness, muscle tone and overall fitness, with a particular focus on training the body for high intensity workout. Here is three exercises I did along with some more: 3 min run 20 x15kg kettle bell swing ... 10x kettlebell snatch 10x box jumps 4 sets

I get asked what do I prefer Cardio or Strength training, the answer all depends on your fitness goals. For me as I am now 50, how I approach my goals I do what is best for me to stay as mobile and strong as possible so its Strength training, I am not ruling out Cardio as this is important to ensure our heart rate is elevated and fitness endurance maintained, so I combine the two not focusing on just one discipline. So at least once a week I will do this type of workout conce...ntrating on the the big compound movements for Chest, back, legs and shoulders. This type of training allows for minimum rest ensuring my heart rate stays elevated and consistent tension on my muscles for strengthening / building thus helping to protect my bones and fingers cross as mobile as I can be without slowing down, thatโ€™s the plan anyway ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ Here I am performing a Farmers walk a great all round strength exercise, followed by tyre flipping good use of the legs, shoulders, back and core and then the classic shoulder builder the military press. This is just a small part of the workout for demonstration purposes. The complete workout would be : 4 runs Farmers walk 4 runs tyre flip 1 set Military Press x 10 reps 1 set Inverted body weight rows x 10 reps 1 set body weight chest dips & press-ups 10 reps each
Repeat the above a minimum of 4 times ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ

Family Training today. Here we are with our little Noah doing a superset of squat push press (with Noah) then a squat jump.

Getting outdoors to train this week has been amazing. Getting out in the sunshine to get some vitamin D which helps the body absorb calcium and phosphate from our diet. These minerals are important for healthy bones, teeth and muscles. A lack of vitamin D, known as vitamin D deficiency, can cause bones to become soft and weak, which can lead to bone deformities.

At Hiz & Herz Personal Training we continue to invest in our business and our clients with new equipment, to ensure our clients meet their goals be it weight loss, improved fitness and strength gains. Our new D.A.P ( Dual Assisted Pulley) cable cross over resistance machine arrived over the weekend, along with our new and improved squat and chest press rack and heavier slam ball set. Keen to try out the D.A.P machine was a good excuse to introduce our baby boy Noah to a worko...ut with his Dad and an opportunity to wear his Christmas present to me โ€œBeastโ€ and โ€œBeast in Trainingโ€ ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ, a budding gym rat and Personal Trainer in the making. Here I am performing a low cable chest crossover which targets the Pectoralis Major (upper), Anterior Deltoid and the Biceps Brachii (short head) muscle groups watched on by Noah ๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’™. Our new D.A.P machine targets every upper and Lower muscle groups, which will aid us help our clients meet their improved strength goals, building lean muscle whilst using the correct form and exercise techniques. Me and Noah had a bit of time to ourselves while away this weekend as daddy popped out, so we decide to exercise. In the video we are doing:
1. Baby swings - all over body work but babies love the swiniging motion as they find it fun, Noah spends most the time giggling. 2. Baby Squat Push Press - great for keeping those legs and shoulders strong. 3. Baby Sumo Squats- a good inner and outer thigh toning exercise ... 4. Baby Walking Lunge - again another leg burner. Also all exercises elevate the heart rate so your burning calories and toning up, especially carrying little Noah #mummygains ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿป๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿ‘ถ๐Ÿป Other exercises were added we did 30 min in the end. Exercise is great for you and your baby as they get to see an active parent, babies think itโ€™s fun, you burn calories and tone up, oh and the bonus after the session I find Noah always has a nap! #babymummytraining #motherandson #fitfamily

Todayโ€™s workout me and Noah worked our legs so we did an Emom ( every minute on the minute) which here we are doing side squats which Noah is my weigh now sitting at 7kg then onto the seater leg extension. So today our tractor tyre arrived thanks to Adam Palmer. A great addition to our strength equipment, a great way of working multiple muscle groups, increasing strength and muscle endurance. Also gives you a good cardio workout ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿฝ. With the weather being so mild I couldnโ€™t wait to try it out and add to my strength routine, always a good idea to change the way you train to shock the body, prevent boredom especially if experiencing any plateaus and keep you motivated with ...new challenges.

Weekly family workout with Noah. Itโ€™s so important to spend time as a family and especially teaching Noah from a young age about exercise by watching mummy and daddy train. Another great week training our fit, dedicated and consistent clients. This week we set another challenge a 20 minute strength cardio A.M.R.A.P consisting of : 5 Jumping lunges / squat ball jump 20 x Ball slams 15 x press ups 10 x squat push press... 10 x burpees 15 x tricep dips 40 x mountain climbers 5 x plank builders c/w 5 hip dips 100 reps in total.
So top of our male / female clients is the super fit husband and wife team Stef & Judith Bensi, with 560 & 500 reps completed, followed by Simon Brown 355 reps and Karen Bayley 375 reps. A massive well done for everyone who took on this challenge which wasnโ€™t easy. Be prepared to better your scores in a few weeks.
In true โ€œpractice what you preachโ€ style Hiz & Herz Personal Trainer Nick took on this challenge and only just beat Stef by completing the above with 613 reps. Nick runs a weekly bootcamp. When I hear "bootcamp" I think uber toned fitness fanatics but this isn't like that. It's attended by about a dozen lovely people who are trying to improve their general fitness with Nick's help. Some of us are overweight and out of shape and trying to put that right over time. Everyone is supportive. Nick mixes it up each week with a variety of cardio and strength exercises, solo and team work. It's outside, come shine or shine (thank you summer of '18) with plenty of shade so not too hot.

Lydia is outstanding in her approach to fitness ,nutrition and long term goals. Having been a client of hers for more than two years I feel strong , changed my body shape and above all learnt what to eat to improve my training and my overall lifestyle. I lost 24 pounds and above anything else have kept the right measurements. Can't thank her enough!!
