A BRIEF HISTORY OF HOLDERNESS COTTAGES CREATIONS
Hi my name is Linsey Glover and I am the creator and director of Holderness Cottages Creations. Looking back, I’ve always had an over-active, creative or even wild imagination some might say. From humble beginnings, spending time with my grandparents throughout my childhood and early adulthood it was here, their ethics and understanding would be instilled in me. A seed planted then, which would develop and grow leading me to ...where I am today. Having had several jobs in my early working life, I soon realised that none of these seemed to make any impression on me, nor inspire me. Nothing made me feel like wow! This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Struggling and battling with anxiety and insecurities I found sitting behind a sewing machine after a long stressful sometimes treacherous day the perfect anecdote. Whether it was fixing buttons on work uniforms or taking up the hem on some curtains I found myself in an unexpected happy place! Suddenly I felt driven, like I had some purpose. My panic attacks were becoming less frequent and I was worrying a lot less about the things in life that really shouldn’t be fret about. Fast forward six months and suddenly family members, friends, friends of friends were becoming aware of my somewhat knack for sewing! So began requests for curtain alterations, school uniforms taken up, zips/buttons fixed etc. Before long, a family friend who had ties with a fabric and textile company was able to gift me with a ‘decent’ amount of off cuts from various materials and patterns all of which was heading to the recycling centre. This stroke of luck literally awoke the creative cogs in my brain and out came a surge of bags, household pieces and some erm... shall we say items which wouldn’t look out of place at a hen/stag party! With some guidance from friends and family in 2016 I was able to launch Holderness Cottages Creations and as with most business a slow start ensued but gradually 3 years later I am continuing to grown and branch out across social networks platforms/internet sites and of course within the community of Holderness. I feel so privileged to be able to call it work. And I’m forever thankful to those who continue to love and support me and my business.

Well.... After much consideration and deliberation amid a manic 2-3 months I have come to the conclusion that I simply cannot turn my back on where my heart truly is. Having made the decision to throw myself back into full time work it has become clear to me that everything isnt always as simple as it seems. Having started up my own business from scratch in the back end of 2016 and watched it grow and begin to branch out, to then walk away had taught me a huge, valuable lesson in life. Sometimes in life you need to take a step back to be able leap forwards. So..... As of today, I am proud to announce that Holderness Cottages Creations will be relaunched!!!! Thank you all who have supported and believed in me on this ride so far, so strap in, and let’s see how far we can really take this thing!!!!!
