Step back in time and experience the magic of Hollycombe's Edwardian Fairground as the sights, sounds and smells all come alive as darkness falls.

This is a nice vlog which one of our visitors has posted to YouTube from this weekend.

Here's a great photo by one of our volunteers.

Beautiful start to the day. Jerry M is getting ready for the first rise of the day at 12:30pm today.

User

Fairground at Night tonight. We have a few additions for the evening. Come and have a try on our coconut shy and show us how good you are. We will also be running the garden railway in the dark. For full details visit our website to see a list of the rides running.

Each of our rides has their very own moat around them today and therefore we have taken the decision to close for today. Each of our rides has their very own moat around them today and therefore we have taken the decision to close for today.

It's fair to say it's a little damp today but we will have the Fairground open for Fairground at Night tonight. We have some amateur radio enthusiasts in as well for the anniversary of the first steam powered passenger railways which first started on the 27th September 1825.

User

Here's a unique angle of our Golden Gallopers which we are sure you haven't seen before.
Thank you to Simon Andrews for the video.

Sunday's Velo South cycle ride has been cancelled. If you were planning a detour to get to us on Sunday you will no longer need to do so and we will be open as normal at 11am with the Fairground rides running from 12:30pm until 5pm.

User

Our first Fairground at Night was a great success and it was nice to see so many of you join us last Saturday. Don't forget we will be open again for our Fairground at Night for the next 5 Saturdays in a row with our last evening opening on the 20th October.
Gates open at 6pm with the Fairground rides starting from 7pm and running until 10pm.

This is an interesting short documentary on You Tube about young people in the heritage sector. You may recognise a few familiar faces. Just over 13 minutes in length and we recommend giving it a watch.

User

We have reached the milestone of 5000 followers and we'd like to thank all of our followers new & old.
Now its time for you to share your favourite photos of the times you've enjoyed with us at Hollycombe.

Our Golden Gallopers look stunning in the dark. We will be open again for our next Fairground at Night this coming Saturday.

User

Our garden railway will be running today at Hollycombe. If you are in the area come along and have a picturesque ride alongside our gardens.

User

Join us tomorrow at Hollycombe to see a century old sawmill in action.

We have lived in the area forever and have never been here before till yesterday. Oh my how cool is this place. Really magical and takes you back to the good old days. Big old shaded trees that line the lovely walks and the steam engines that drive the funfair with the friendly staff that man the whole show are volunteers so a big hats off to them. Even down to the man on the Merry-go-round who sang to us. The restaurant is really reasonable. Our grandchildren were delighted with the donkeys on the other side of the fence who came for a petting. Great place for a day out and a relaxed picnic. Thank you Hollycombe Steam Collection.

We have been returning to Hollycombe for years... and have seen many changes. What has not changed is the enthusiasm of volunteers than run it and make it such a nice family (and pet) friendly place to visit over and and over again! We love everything about Hollycombe and will be visiting for many more years to come. Our favourite rides must be the Big Wheel and our little ones love the small cars and merry go round. Train rides are a must!

User

We had such a fun day today on our first visit to Hollycombe! We decided to visit as a treat for my husbands birthday. We bought a saver ticket (2 adults + 2 children) which means we can come back again unlimited times within the year which is fab! We rode on the quarry train first and the views were beautiful! Then the kids made full use of the rides which were such fun! It made such a nice change from the theme park or modern day fun fairs. The favourite was The Neptune! We also rode on the garden train which was a big hit with the kids. We had some lunch in the cafe (reasonably priced) and the toilets were clean. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful and amazingly all run by volunteers! Thanks for such a fun day, we'll defo be back :)

User

We had an excellent day today. The Azalea walk was beautiful and we all enjoyed the fair. So nice to go somewhere and not have to pay for anything extra on top as all the fair rides and the train were Included in the admission fee. We will definitely be making use of our ticket which is valid for a year!! What a lovely surprise.

User

My two (11 and 9) had a fab day. It wasn't too busy, no queuing required. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. The volunteers were all really friendly. The cafe was very reasonable and served basic but tasty food. Amazing that it's totally staffed by volunteers, lovely to see in this day and age. Would highly recommend going as it makes a welcome relief from the madness of the modern theme park!

User

User

Fantastic day out. Friendly and welcoming volunteers. A wonderful trip back in time! Excellent value for money! Highly reccomended.

User

Fabulous day out and we can return as many times as we want this year for free! Small enough that the just teenagers can have free rein but enough to keep them interested and more than enough for the 4 year old to have fun for hours. This was our 3rd visit and we still haven't made it to the beautiful gardens! Volunteers are amazing considering how hard they work for just for love !

User

Enjoyed a lovely afternoon here today on our first visit. Volunteers are all so friendly and helpful. Loved the rides and views on the railway. Gardens are a pleasant if slightly wet on the feet. Farm is a work in progress. Great value for money when you pay the full price as you can return as much as you want in a year. It is very worrying to think what will happen to these places if they cannot get volunteers in the future. Thank you to everyone who volunteers, you make our visit memorable.

User

We went with my daughter and family. We had a lovely day there was something for the whole family no matter what there age. The children had a great time and they could enjoy the rides without there parents having to keep paying out. The only complaint I did have was the restaurant was waiting for a delivery so the food was a bit limited.
