Being prepared for the summer heat is by no means easy. Staying cool is especially important for our elderly loved ones and clients. Here are 5 tops ways to keep cool as the summer warms up:
1. Stay hydrated! 💦 Keep a large water bottle or jug in the fridge and keep your glasses topped up throughout the day.
... 2. Keep cool as you snooze 😴 Swap your thicker sheets and covers to lighter, more breathable ones to help you keep cool.
3. Have plenty of cold foods on hand ❄️ Help keep your body temperature cool with an abundance of fruits from the fridge, treats from the freezer (our favourite: fill an ice cube tray with orange juice and add them to your water on the hottest days).
4. Furnish the home with blinds and shades 🔅 Direct sun heats up our homes. Simply using a shade in the windows can reduce your room's heat gain by as much as 77%!
5. Close off rooms that are lightly used. 🚪 This keeps the cool air where it's required most- where you are!
Remember, that over time our elders may be less able to care for themselves- especially if they live alone. If you’re questioning whether your older loved one can handle any of these tips on their own, it may be time to seek professional care.

As temperatures soar to record highs in Cheshire this July, we have been making sure that our precious CAREGivers stay cool while out and about on their journeys to and from our Clients. We have been delivering cooling bottles of water to our CAREGivers to help them stay hydrated during the hot summer days. Members of the office team have been out to various areas in East Cheshire to drop off supplies. Our CAREGivers will also be making sure that our Clients are hydrated by ...offering plenty of fluids during calls and advising them to cover up if out and about in the sunshine. With this in mind, please make sure you stay hydrated, drink plenty of water or juices etc. and protect yourself if in the sunshine.
... Remember that, although it’s tempting, open footwear is not allowed when you are attending calls for health and safety reasons.
