We only had main course as it was lunch time. I had steak and it was cooked exactly how I like it and not a single piece of fat on it. My daughter had pizza and it was also excellent. So pleased it's now open at lunch times and we will definitely be back. Staff and service were brilliant and food was piping hot. 5*👍🏻

Visited here for the first time for a celebration with my husband. Food was amazing and the service was excellent. The restaurant was really busy but you can see why when you taste the food. For just the two of us we spent quite abit of money but we was also drinking bottles of champagne as we was celebrating. Highly recomended and will be returning soon for a meal but minus the champagne.

To my shame I'd never been despite eating in just about every restaurant in the area and witnessing cookery demonstrations as part of the Taste Cumbria events. At long last we went last night and discovered a really excellent dining experience, a warm and friendly welcome as we walked through the door and a tequila sunrise as a special on the cocktails board before being shown through to our table, the menu is fairly short but in my experience it means that the kitchen has time to get things right, and they did. From the scallops and belly pork starter, through the lamb rump and on to a sticky toffee pudding for desert, everything was great, perfectly cooked scallops, melt in the mouth lamb, all perfect. The staff were helpful and friendly throughout despite being busy they were spot on. I will be back as soon as I can, this is a place well worth a visit.

This is fast becoming one of my favourite places to dine in Cumbria. I always enjoyed the usual dinner menu, I've always said the food quality for the price is fantastic. However, the themed evenings have taken it to a whole new level. Myself and my partner have been to the kebab and biryani evening and Kerala evening and both were faultless. We loved being able to try a variety of authentic, regional cuisine and the mix of flavours and spices. The portions were generous and it was all very affordable. I can't wait for the next themed evening as I will be back and I'll keep telling everyone about it as I want these evenings to continue. George and Meera are doing a fabulous job, and are so welcoming, so thank you both for the hospitality and the wonderful evenings.

The food, atmosphere and service was absolutely outstanding. Couldn't fault any part of the evening. Lovely to meet George and his wife, who explained each dish in detail throughout the Kerala night. And £18 a head, plus a glass of house wine. Fantastic!!! We will definitely visit again. Can't wait for future speciality nights �

Thank you so much Honest Lawyer!! We celebrated our Christmas party with you this year and you did not disappoint. The food was delicious the service first class and the atmosphere was perfect we are so glad we came. We will be back for sure!!!

My husband and I have wanted to visit Honest Lawyer for a while after hearing good reviews but hadn't managed to fit it in. After meeting the owner we decided to get booked in and we definitely wish we had visited sooner!



On arrival the front of house staff were very attentive ensuring that we were comfortable while we waited in the bar area because we arrived earlier than we had booked.



The food was wonderful - we don't usually have 3 courses each but the food was too good to resist. All the dishes were divine but the highlights were definitely the goat cheese souffle, Kerala spiced lamb and the stick toffee pudding.



We will definitely be visiting again and can't wait to try one of the themed nights.

My 1st visit on mother's day. The resturant is in a lovely setting, overlooking the river , with a clean + welcoming decor + it had heating on ( this is important as some places are uncomfortable as it is cold ) staff were extremely pleasant + helpful ( great 1st impression) Our meals were beautiful ! Definitely will be returning.

Loved loved loved the Indian street food at the Honest Lawyer last night! Lovely food and great wine along with fantastic friendly staff to tend to your every need. Can't wait for the next themed evening xx ����

Just back from a great evening celebrating my daughter's birthday. The food as ever was delicious (sticky toffee pudding is so good) and the staff are really friendly and attentive. To use my daughters words "I've had the best birthday ever!" Totally revommend this place.

Have been a couple of times in the past but have recently been for both the Kerala and Goan themed nights. The food has been fantastic and great value for money! Highly recommended especially on the themed nights

Had a scrummy, yummy meal and so nice to be able to bring my little girl out to a nice restaurant that is relaxed but serves decent food for the kids - lovely people serving on too - already booked to come back!

Had a meal here last night and it was top notch � nice relaxed atmosphere attentative staff and first class food will defo return

Enjoyed the Indian Taster menu tremendously. The mix of Indian street foods was really wonderful giving an indication of the different dishes available.

Each dish was explained as to the origin and ingredients used. Service was impeccable and very friendly. All together HIGHLY recommended.

I am really looking forward to the next "Taster" evening.

Came here tonight for the bonfire menu with our three old. Fantastic atmosphere, fabulous food and very friendly staff. Will most certainly recommend to others, and will be back without a doubt!

Called in for lunch on Saturday and were very impressed - Seth front of house was fantastic- great service and great welcome - and the food was really good especially the pasta - and also good value. We will be back for lunch soon and also in the evening. Hope the Friday and Saturday lunch openings go well and we will certainly be recommending.

Ate here last night after looking at on line reviews and taking a chance... the food was quite frankly INCREDIBLE! We eat out in good places fairly often as like to get time together where we can. The rump steak was the best I have ever eaten!

The staff were so so polite, faultless and helpful and whoever is cooking in the kitchen needs a massive pat on the back and more! We will be back next year and will DEFINITELY be revisiting this gorgeous place!

Amazing food and staff!! This place is perfect. We took my Grandma this evening for her 90th birthday, 8 of us with 2 small children and the staff couldn’t of been better. Thankyou xx
