The staff were very polite & helpfull the decor was nice,very warm & cosy & a nice quiet retreat,would recommend staying there.

Thanks to all the staff at Honest Lawyer for putting on a great night for my husbands 40th Birthday. From the initial planning to the service on the night, everything was spot on. We had a £30 set menu for 24 guests and there were so many positive compliments about the delicious food and generous portion sizes. The bar was well stocked as well - the variety of gins was particularly well received. The Atrium room was well laid out and gave the night a special feel and the bar was cosy and welcoming.

The rooms were also excellent; clean, plenty of space and a nice en suite. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and the much needed coffee was flowing. All round we couldn’t fault a thing. Thanks again - we will certainly be back to sample more of the menu.

Just had a fab lunch at the Honest Laywer. Will definitely be back, amazing grub and super helpful staff.

I have stay here and few times and enjoyed it food is lovely the staff are friendly and welcoming. The rooms I have stayed in has been clean and cosy will be coming back

Had afternoon tea with a friend here was lovely, really nice and excellent value for money! The kids menu looked great so will hopefully return this way with the family to try the rest of the menu �

Great location near to Durham centre. Friendly, helpful & efficient staff, clean & spotless room, lovely outdoor decking area / garden, private parking but best of all the food is amazing. Highly recommend.

Couldn't fault a thing. The staff and manager where unbelievably attentive, responsive and really bent over backwards to ensure my dad's surprise party went brilliantly. Buffet food was delicious and plentiful. I would highly recommend this venue and it's fabulous team. The comfy bed and scrummy breakfast was just the cherry on top. �

Don’t visit here. I had arranged an afternoon tea after a great experience a number of years ago. However recently I’m sad to say this was not the case.

On arrival we were told they weren’t expecting us till later despite it being booked. We were then given a pot of tea unfortunately I had to go and request milk and sugar. As we sat waiting for food we could see through into the kitchen. We watched as the chefs prepared food whilst eating which I find completely unacceptable especially when they knew they could be seen by guests. Also just to add the place was empty when we arrived so it wasn’t as if they were rushed off their feet. So afternoon tea was served. The stand on which our food was provided was mucky and had cobwebs on it. The pork pies were freezing cold in the middle but the pastry was hot as though they had been reheated. The pastry was dry and flakey. We were offered more pork pies once I raised this however they gave the excuse it was due to reheating on a hot plate. I wasn’t particularly interested in more reheated pork pies. The disappointment continued as the chef was seen to lick his fingers during food service.

We wanted to raise this so this didn’t continue we were told by staff that we should contact the manager which we did. Unfortunately for some reason they have chosen to ignore us. Everyone makes mistakes but how do you learn from them by ignoring your customers.
