It's been an absolute privilege to enable and help realise the ideas of Junya Ishigami. His design beautifully showcases the natural qualities of the slate and reflects the rugged nature of the landscape we live and work in here at Honister.
We’re also delighted that Eden Stonework were chosen to install the slate onsite. We’re proud to be keeping these centuries old stone masonry skills alive as part of the World Heritage Site story of the Lake District.

Our Director Joe and Mine Tour Guide Roland are beaming with pride at this year's VIP opening of the Serpentine Pavilion in Kensington Garden today.
61 tonne of our Honister Slate was used by Japanese Architect, Junya Ishigami, for its design. A truly amazing moment for all of us at Honister.
Made by arranging slates to create a single canopy roof that appears to emerge from the ground of the surrounding park, Ishigami’s design takes inspiration from roofs, the most common a...rchitectural feature used around the world. You can view the Serpentine Pavilion from 21st June 2019 to 6th October 2019.
