Wow just amazing food ambiance and staff... 5 stars well deserved. We had the fisherman's feast with lobster and I was sorry it was all over so fast haha... Thank you for a lovely birthday meal for the hubster
We’ve come here for our wedding anniversary. We spend a lot of time in Falmouth in the summer running our motor yacht charter business and have been meaning to come here for a while! Well we have not been disappointed, food is amazing, staff are great and the view is to die for. Fair to say we will be back
Went for lunch here today, staff were very accommodating and the food was delicious, that delicious it deserves a minute silence. Highly recommend.
Very nice tapas, superb location, local beers...need I say anything more?
The food was amazing, and the staff were lovely, can’t recommend this restaurant enough, I shall be back!
I have just had my birthday meal here service was amazing and food was first class. Absolutely loved it great experience all around.
Fantastic restaurant, friendly staff and stunning views. My husband and I visited here yesterday evening, I really fancied lobster but there was only one left which my husband bagged, we named him Sebastian. I had the best fish and chips I've ever tasted in addition to some of my husband's lobster which was perfectly cooked in a beautiful garlic and butter sauce. The staff were very pleasant and the food was worth every penny we spent. Thanks again hooked on the rocks, we shall book again for next august.
Fabulous location overlooking the bay and excellent food and service. We had a couple of lovely tapas dishes as starters then whole lobsters with salad and fries. Very fresh and beautifully presented. Will be returning next time we visit Falmouth.
Fab place! Wondered in last Friday not knowing what to expect from Tapas time but we weren't disappointed! Lovely campari with doda and chilled Cornish cider to start with. Soaking up the sun, breathtaking views and watching the kids catching a seabas! Good start! One man band service of a nice and fast waitress who served us with a smile, efficiency and patience. Half portion of fragrant fresh mussels were to die for and good for sharing too. Delicious oyster with Tabasco sauce, rustic bread board and inventive house salad went down the treat! Will return with friends on our next Falmouth adventure. ♡
Enjoyed a super meal tonight with my Hubbie. Had the freshest plaice ever and bountiful signature platter so hats off to the chefs. Great service with a smile from a truly hard working waitress. Wonderful views of the bay during sunset made for a special evening. Thank you!
Amazing. We have eaten seafood all over the world, and at some of highly rated chefs and the Hook on the Rock is up those and better than some of top end restaurants.
Amazing staff and the food was so fresh & tasty. Lovely atmosphere and of course great view.! Feel bad for other visitors tonight though we had the last 3 oysters tasty!
...amazing location and well presented tasty food...well done, surely we'll come back...!!
Just returned from my birthday meal at this place *(wrote this last night but it didn't share so redoing it now) which was a pleasant evening with great views out to sea over Swanpool beach. We had a selection of tapas, which were served quickly and warm, whether they were freshly cooked or not or just warmed up I don't know (*I suspect pre-prepared as they were at our table within like 5-8 mins). We enjoyed all apart from the cold selection of Cured Cornish Mackerel, new potatoes & English wasabi, which to be honest just tasted like mayonnaise and there was far too much on it, didn't like it but my partner seemed to think it was ok - but just ok if you know what I mean. The squid was lovely and the best thing on the plate - and fantastic olives. I think the food was generally nice albeit it some of it was a too oily which gave my partner a severe upset stomach when we got back home - in fact at one point she thought she had food poisoning but I was ok so maybe it was just just something in the food that she reacted too .
Nice friendly smiling staff, though I believe they should have an extra member of staff because even though we had a table booked we were told to wait at the site for 5 minutes rather than seating us Immediately. It seemed like a staffing issue to me as there were plenty of tables available.
To finish we had one desert to share as we were really full from all the tapas but just wanted something sweet to finish off - we had the "Affogato £4.50 / £3.50
- homemade vanilla ice cream, espresso shot Add a saliza amaretto shot. Which was really nice but the potion of ice cream for £4.50 was absolutely tiny. basically like two heaped teaspoons, which was not so good value, and we were charged £4 for the amaretto shot rather than £3.50 as on the menu.
The overall bill was £55 for 7 tapas and bread and two drinks. I think a tad expensive for what it was.
Interesting, nice place, but a few small tweaks to the food and service would help. I would go again but I think to try the main courses which looked very good.
Had a really nice meal although was a little disappointed that at 7 in the evening they had run out of crab which limited the seafood options somewhat.
For a full fish experience this restaurant is perfect with a delightful view, great atmosphere and aesthetics. Decent options on the menu, no negatives, just wasn't in the mood for Crab/Lobster so took the seafood Goan curry.
Choose your own crab etc is a great part of the experience I can imagine and we were told you can pick your own crab sometimes.
2nd visit in a few weeks whilst visiting the region! Good food & staff friendly even though it was bank holiday Monday & they had been slammed for 3 days straight! Only neg comment is my daughter had contacted them online in the morning to book a table at 7pm, then called several times as not had a response, when finally the phone was answered the only time we could sit was at 5.30pm. Turned out ok as it was a fab evening to sit outside!
Superb food; lobster beautifully and freshly cooked right out of the tank and cracked for service. Oysters lightly cooked and a sensational garlic butter. Wonderful view over the bay. However the waiting staff left a lot to be desired and it’s a shame because the food was faultless. “Are you guys all done? - yes thanks *clears half our table of 2 and then goes away to serve and clear other tables - comes back eventually with bill... “There’s £3 off every lobster today” - not deducted from bill; “I’d like 6 oysters - I’m sorry we only have 3 - that’s fine, but get charged £12 instead of proportionally the amount of £15 for 6!”... “ok let me take £5 off the bill” - actually £4.40 was taken off in the end - I know it’s petty but it annoys me when a great restaurant is let down by front of house. Won’t be returning soon.
Booked for 6 pm on Saturday and arrived to be told no specials at all because of a busy day !! How disappointing when you’ve booked aa fish restaurant for a fish lovers birthday treat ! 🐟 😞 There was shellfish and fish and chips on the menu but otherwise no fish at all ... surely you plan for your fully booked Saturday night. ??? The Goan curry was lovely and the 5 plates of fish and chips ok but not amazing. I’m afraid I expected better ....
