Hope Into Action: Black Country

About Hope Into Action: Black Country

A housing charity based in Wolverhampton seeking, in partnership with others, to #makehomelessnesshistory by breaking individual and systemic cycles of poverty.

Hope Into Action: Black Country Description

Hope Into Action: Black Country partners with churches to enable them to house the homeless and refugees through private investment. We get investors to purchase and refurbish suitable properties across the Black Country and lease them back to us on a commercial lease for 5 years. That house is then partnered with a local church who provides a team of volunteers who befriend support and mentor the residents. 2 to 4 residents are placed in the house for a period of 12-15 months on average and then supported from where they were at prior to entering the house to hopefully moving on to independent living. We believe that witth the help of the local church we could iff not erradicate, put a serious dent into the issue of homelessness across our area and provide refugees with opportunities that would otherwise be out of reach.

Delighted to announce that Merylen Pearce is taking over as Black Country Franchise Manager. She started out as a volunteer team coordinator 3 years ago; then came on board as an Empowerment Worker 2 years ago and now she is heading up the Black Country Franchise of Hope into Action. Congratulations Merylen - thoroughly deserved.

Could you help us to do more this Christmas for those who have nothing?

Real privilege today to assist a tenant to move on by being a part of his wedding. Congratulations to the happy couple and delighted to have been involved in that journey. All the best from the whole of our team.

Please share and vote.
Our friends over at ReGen need your votes to get some funding from the Aviva Community Fund. Please help out if you can. They are doing some great work providing accommodation and employment to formerly homeless individuals.

We are ALL in. How about you? Could you join us in being a part of #makinghomelessnesshistory?

What does saving the pink pigeon of Mauritius have to do with homelessness? Its all about ecosystems, natural habitat and systemic change. Its not going to happen over night but we can together #makehomelessnesshistory

Just found out that our NRPF scheme and article were picked up by the Big Issue last month #makinghomelessnesshistory

Delighted to be approached by a local authority yesterday from out of our area for more details on how our scheme to get NRPFs off the streets works. Had confirmation that they are considering moving forwards with something similar in their area and are looking for potential candidates to trial it. #makinghomelessnesshistory

We have just moved over to KI ACCounts for our charity use. I have used a number of different systems in the past and all of them have been setup for business use and not for charity use. This is a system that is designed specifically for charities. It simplifies the accounting process, streamlines a lot of the functions that charities would use and automates a lot of the work. In addition to this the support received in tailoring the accounts package to the need of different... organisations has been invaluable. Frankly once the initial set up of the system is done and it has been tailored to your needs it should be idiot proof. It is simple and yet sophisticated at the same time. The cost is also reasonable and includes an independent examination. It is everything charities and churches need in making accounting accessible and in a position to do it themselves where previously they may have needed to outsource at a cost. Highly recommended. Brilliant product. Can see myself looking back.
Check them out at https://www.kingdomimpacttoday.com/sales fpr the range of accounting and charity services they can offer.

What models of genuinely affordable move-on accommodation currently exist for transitioning individuals in temporary accommodation into independent living and how do they work? #makinghomelessnesshistory

Our CEO @camlambert2000 has been selected to join the #EmergingLeader programme with @CloreSocial - this is a great opportunity to rub shoulders with other emerging social leaders and also for personal and professional growth. #makinghomelessnesshistory

What incentives are there for providers to shift away from traditional methods of supported accommodation to providing tenant-centred move-on accommodation? What comes first the financial sustainability of the organisation or the tenancy? #makinghomelessnesshistory
