Huge thanks to the teams at Pets at home meanwood and Pets At Home - Leeds Kirkstall and their customers, as well as our wonderful volunteers, for their hard work during the Pets at Home Summer campaign. Today we collected Support Adoption For Pets cheques for £336.65 from Meanwood and £290.75 from Kirkstall. The money will go straight to help to pay for all the extra hay we’re ordering because of the lack of grass this Summer. THANK YOU!!

HAYNETS NEEDED!!! As cute as this unicorn is, we work tirelessy to ensure that our horses and ponies don't become as fat as this! Being fat brings with it lots of health issues, including the dreaded laminitis, so keeping weight in-check is super-important. On the other hand, horses are designed of graze pretty much all of the day, so need access to some sort of food most of the time. These Little Piggy Haynets are fab because one haynet will last a pony ages (as the small h...oles mean it's difficult to get the hay out) and keep them happily entertained for hours. We're desperate for some more of these to ensure our ponies, horses and donkeys remain the svelt and healthy beasties they currently are, so if you have a spare £12 they'll be very, very grateful. THANK YOU!!! http://www.hopepastures.org/…/aaah-gift -of-the-month-littl…/

WOW, a HUGE thank you to everyone who volunteered, donated, attended and bought at our Tack and Horsey Goodies Sale last Sunday - you managed to raise over ¬£3,000 to help our rescues. This is a record!!!! Thank you from our 4-legged friends and from those yet to be rescued ūüėÄ

User

Now less than one week to go to our BIG Tack and Horsey Goodies Sale and the team are frantically sorting and pricing to make sure everything’s ready.

Tino enjoyed his very first bath today, thanks to work experience student Megan for helping out! We think you will all agree he looks super handsome and clean ūüíé Tino continues to improve steadily and is almost finished with his medication, meaning that he can be castrated this year and hopefully given a full bill of health to be re-homed ūü§ěūüŹĽ

What a brilliant day!!! First of all we opened our emails today to find that our fabulous supporters (you!!!!) voted for us in the Support Adoption For Pets LovetoGive campaign and we've won ¬£250 of Pets at Home vouchers - THANK YOU everyone! Then this afternoon, the team from EA Equi - Rug Wash Ltd called in with a huge donation of goodies. This included: * 77 beautifully clean rugs... * + 20 bridles * 2 saddles Amazing!!!! We can always use donations of equestrian items, either for our ponies themselves or we to convert into pony nuts at our regular Tack & Rugs Sales (the next one of these is on Sunday 12th August at the sanctuary.) Lovely Sago popped out to meet the team and and to thank them all - including their newest recruit! A MASSIVE thank you from all of the two-leggeds here as well ūüíēūüíēūüėČ

UPDATE 23hh on 30th Jul 2018.... HUGE thanks to everyone who has shared and tagged this post and to the wonderful people who have contacted us to offer their help. Sally is dealing with all the enquiries now. We also need her to do lots of other 'stuff', though, so please bear with us while we get back to you! Much as we'd love more offers of design help, we probably can't process any more than the ones we already have at the moment. We're very grateful for your support.
In o...ur Vistor Centre and out at shows we sell Hope Pastures branded items, displaying fab pics of our lovely residents. Selecting these pics and fitting them to the items sounds easy, but it needs someone who is creative and who has an eye for detail and sizes. Can you help? Items include pens, badges, fridge magnets and rosettes. We have lots of pics to choose from, but need your help to convert these into items our supporters would like to buy. If you're a design diva (or divo?!), please email Sally on office@hopepastures.org for more information. THANK YOU!

We were so sad to be told recently that Delores, the elderly donkey we rescued and who was then kindly taken in by The Donkey Sanctuary for specialised care she needed, passed away the same morning that we lost our dear Muffin. Delores was an extremely neglected donkey- one of the worst cases we had seen. But she was so strong willed and full of personality and it was rewarding to see her improve with our special care and then the expert care of the amazing Donkey Sanctuary. ... We would like to say a huge heartfelt ūüíēthank you ūüíē to them for everything they did for Delores. Her final months were spent happily in the company of other donkeys and with all the TLC needed for such a special case.Rest in Peace Delores and we are sure you are keeping everyone awake with your super loud braying over rainbow bridge! ūüĆą it was a privilege to have you around xx
We are also so grateful to have received a book through the post today from the Donkey Sanctuary all about Donkeys and their specific needs compared to ponies. So important to provide and share this information within the Welfare sector and with donkey keepers and owners around the world ūüĎćūüŹľ thank you!

Update on Asher, who we rescued in 2011. Asher was emaciated and in really poor health on arrival, only a young pony- he had been starved for so long that he was skeletal and his organs had begun to struggle, to make things worse he was being ill-treated by children when his guardian angel Sharon luckily found him and rescued him. We found them in a terrible situation with Asher close to collapse just a minutes walk from our gates.
It took a lot of hard work and care,involvi...ng dozens of people and vets. His rescuers visited him several times per week, bringing him freshly pulled grass and herbs and feed.
Fast forward to today, Asher has now been living with his foster ‚Äėmummy‚Äô Di and family for several years.
Di has transformed Asher into a picture of health, he is ridden and attends shows where he can proudly show off how fit, healthy and well behaved he is.
Di has another horse, he is called Lewi and is like Asher’s twin brother. They get along really well and are very loved members of the family.
Asher is a credit to Di’s care and hard work, and is such a lucky boy to have landed in such a great forever home.
Joanne and Sharon, his original guardian angels are able to visit him and keep in touch too. Asher was blessed the day that he was found, thank you to everyone who helped him to get to where he is today ūüíē

Lily is doing so well with her positive training at the moment. As a very nervous and reactive pony due to her bad start in life, her training needs to be done very carefully so as not to set her back. We are currently training her to place her hooves on a mat, in preparation for hoof trimming as Lily is so frightened of being handled. Hopefully Lily will learn to place her hooves on a stand to be rasped back into shape after her recent Laminitis attacks. Thanks to Hannah at Connection Training for years of help and advice with Lily ūüíĖ We know you can do it Lily ūüĎĆūüŹĽ keep trying your best to be brave and trust us ! ūüíē

Sooo disappointed!!! A really lovely day, but too lovely for our canine friends. Already 22 degrees here in Weetwood at 10.30am ‚ėÄÔłŹ‚ėÄÔłŹ so the decision to postpone the Dog Show to 23rd September seems right. Sorry to the dogs who didn‚Äôt know, but their humans are very understanding. The gorgeous Chase (collie x lab) travelled from Castleford to be with us - we‚Äôre hoping he, and all the other disappointed best friends, will come in September. ūüź∂‚̧ԳŹ‚̧ԳŹ

DOG SHOW POSTPONED to 23rd September! Hi everyone, Just to let you know we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone the Fun Dog Show this Sunday due to the heat. The forecast until yesterday was for 21 degrees in Leeds, it's now for 27 degrees and this is really too hot for our doggy friends to be out in all day.
We're really, really sorry for any disappointment, but hope you can come on 23rd September instead.
... Please can you share this post to let as many people as possible know?! Thank you.

Went today had a really warm welcome. Finally got to see Henry and the beautiful Tino. Was great to see what an amazing job these guys do. Will definitely be back XX

User

We came to visit today after following you on Facebook. I was so impressed by the cleanliness of the place. Every horse, pony, donkey or mule has a lovely clean, safe stable to call their own and the yards were spotless (granted the ponies hadn’t come in!). Well done to all involved with the charity. It’s a great thing you are doing. Shame it is necessary.x

User

Great horse & pony sanctuary that really works hard at rescuing & rehabilitating the animals that come into their care.

The staff & volunteers are very welcoming and can tell you all about the different equines that live there.

There are quite a few different activities you can do there such as Pony Days, Pony 1:1s & birthday parties, all the information is in the visitors centre & the staff in there can help you.

And the fact that they are free to visit & open everyday of the year means that you can visit anytime!

User

Doing a fantastic job, well done to you all at Hope!
