This is Rog at 900g! Released this week. Rog was very sick when he came to us as he'd been eating something nasty. Lots of green slimy stools and irritable. Now he's a very happy Bore looking for some new adventures released in to a lovely farm in Harpenden😁. This is Hedgie mk14, hedgie came to us some months ago now with an injured leg. She was also dehydrated and very thin. This photo is of her being released in to a lovely hedgehog home along a river lined semi urban area. She has a fully functional leg now although slightly wonky. She was double the weight at release from 400g to 800g so nice and plump now 😛. This is Abi being released this week in to Vals garden. Abi came from a vets in Luton. We don't know who dropped her off there. She was with us for a few weeks after getting her weight up a little and the set free back in to the wild. Abi was a terror in her rehabilitation pen, not happy with other hogs one bit! She was obsessive over her food! Just finished for the day (apart from feeding the hedgehogs which I'm doing now!) What a busy day. Loads of hog rescues today. Just collected the last two hoglets (Lara & Croft) from St.Albans kindly called in by Laragh who met me at the Bull pub car park (on the way back to Sanctuary from another collection in Hertford). These two hoglets were found when a compost heap was being moved. UPDATE ON FUNDRAISER FOR SECOND INCUBATOR: I just wanted to update you all on how we are doing for a second incubator for injured hedgehogs. This incubator will be housed at Hornbeam Wood Hedgehog Sanctuary and it's main function will be for very sick/injured adult hedgehogs.

It may also be used for short emergency duration of baby hoglets (most hoglets are now being looked after very kindly by Kate). But as of right now this unit will mainly be used for baby adult hedgehogs.
The cheapest unit costs about £450 and the most expensive around £670. The cheapest unit would do just fine for us as it's mainly the size of the unit that changes per model, and as most injured hedgehogs won't be moving about much then the smaller unit should be fine.

We had a bit of an incident this week. A pretty big tree decided to topple over in one of the Hedgehog Rehabilitation Pens. Luckily no hedgehogs were hurt but two on them must have got a shock when some branches came crashing down on their hotels! I spent my free time between releasing the hedgehogs this week sorting the tree out and clearing it away from the path which the Scouts made for us. I did my best to save the tree and think it will be fine, it has split at the base of the truck but still attached. Meet Ed a male hedgehog that sustained injuries to his nose and toes. He came from a vets in Dunstable where he was initially treated for his injuries and then to us to continue treatment. This is a photo of him just before release this week in to Gills garden. He has been put in to a soft release garden inside a hutch and Gill will look after him for a few days then open up the hutch so he came run free. He will always have a home to return to there should he need food and water. His nose has healed really well and although he is also missing a few toes he is very capable at using the others. Happy days 🥰.
