Live Blues This Sunday 24th Feb 4.30pm
Blues Matters magazine described the Grey Goose Blues Band as ‘one of the best newcomers to the blues scene in 2011.’ They have been thrilling audiences for a few years longer than that, but the dates don’t matter. Singer/guitarist/songwriter Frankie Williams fronts a fine blues band that always gives great value. The mature sound of the Grey Goose draws from the influence of the likes of T Bone Walker, Albert King, Muddy Waters and Duke Robillard.#bigbearmusic #livemusic #jazzandblues

I took part in the art exhibtion on the 9th July and it was great to show the public art in such an informal setting. I hope it continues in future and goes from strength to strength. Well done to the Horse and Jockey staff for promoting local art and artists in Sutton Coldfield.

User

Hadn't been for years and popped in to eat with my mum and sister before going to the cinema. Found staff lovely and friendly. Didn't have to wait long for drinks and food. We all enjoyed our food and will be visiting again

Nice food. Nice Guinness. Staff where friendly. Fairly priced. It's was a bit cold in there tho. We sat at the end of the bar by the x mas tree it felt as if they had the door open in the kitchen. On the whole we're happy with the jockey

User

I'd have to admit I need to be in the mood to eat there; but it's our local, we can walk there, and the beer is ok.

If I were going to suggest improvement I would get the bar staff to be quicker and more helpful; and improve the wifi which is so pants as to be pointless.

User

I went today with my friend for food at lunch time and another friend joined us a bit later. I ordered steak ale pie with chips a d mixed steam veg. I was horrified to be served with veg that includes sprouts (aka devil's testicles). Sprouts are an acquired taste and not one I like at all. It meant I couldn't eat any of my veg as they tasted of those vile green DTs. The rest of lunch was lovely but it did it me off eating it all as the smell was lingering even though I put them on my friends plate. I will not order food that includes mixed veg from now on and I think it should be made clear as sprouts are not a regular expected veg and many people like myself have a very strong dislike for them.

On a positive note the staff were friendly, service was quick despite it being very busy and there was a great atmosphere in there today so thank you.

User

Went for lunch for my Birthday. Staff friendly enough but food service really slow. Even “forgot to bring the desserts “

User

We was in there yesterday for a meal and it was disgusting we had the rack of beef and it's was over cooked and dry and the vegetables was dry and over micawaved well we won't be back there again it was our first and last time

User

On getting our drinks at the bar there was almost a fight between some people who has clearly been served to too much alcohol. We then selected our meals and waited and waited (not busy by the way) food arrived..no problem with the food it was ok. The pub was very cold despite the 3 fires I could see being on..we had to eat our food with our coats on!! Glad I had finished my food when a lout from the drunken "I want to fight table" decided to do a moony to his mates at the table. I won't be rushing back but fair play it always looks busy.

User

Car park machine was very temperental, disabled toilet was locked so i had to struggle upstairs, my friends food was not hot & he didn't like to complain as he & his son are regulars. The bar was abandoned for sometime so had to call for service therefore we won't meet up there again which is a shame as its always had a good reputation.

User

Atmosphere nice very busy Food was ok nothing special portions was under average barley got a desert spoon size of musy peas not many chips .

Desert was ice cream was portion for a child
