One of our members Malcolm Duffin is working on a large printmaking project to keep him going throughout isolation.
The Project is called ‘Viral Portraits’ and is hosted via Facebook (follow the link below) https://www.facebook.com/groups/263519710 6609884/
... Malcolm is hoping to produce 100 'Viral Portraits'. To do this he needs people to send in photographs of themselves.
Malcolm will be preparing plates at home using household materials and will be printing the series once Hot Bed Press re-opens.

Hot Bed Press Member Suzanne Bethell was meant to be showing her work at The Pilcrow Pub in the centre of Manchester a few weeks ago... Unfortunately due to the outbreak of corona virus the exhibition has been postponed. We're not sure of the new date but Suzanne did take some pictures so we have a sneak peak of the show... it looks great and we can't wait to see it when it re-opens...
We'd love to share some more members work, whether that be exhibitions that haven't quite happened yet, work that has been stopped midway or a completely new project responding to the current situation. Please get in touch and email Kate@hotbedpress.org

Hello all! We are still here but working from home! How is everyone doing? Still printing or taking a break?!

Hello everyone!
Just to say thank you for all your support after the news we are closing down for a little while. We really appreciate it :)
It's been very quiet in the workshop today and we are sad we have to close but we need to stay safe.
... We will still be responding to emails and some calls over the next week, so you can get in touch if you need to! If you're printing from home and need some advice drop us a line - we're happy to help in anyway we can.

Hello everyone!!! We sent out an email to our members last night... Just a short message to say that Following Government measures and advice to limit the spread of the coronavirus Hot Bed Press will shut down from this Friday; 20th March at 5.00pm.
We hope that you all come through this difficult period in good health. We will be doing our bit to make sure Hot Bed Press opens in good health too and to be as strong as ever.
Over the coming weeks and months we will also be loo...king at ways in which we can raise money in innovative and exciting printed fashion to try to make up for some of the inevitable losses we will be encountering.
We have a few plans up our sleeves to help keep Hot Bed Press alive and kicking, but the current situation is a real threat to us unless we have strong support in the coming difficult months.

****Member exhibition****: Two Red Walls continues this month with a change in artists on 19th of March. Jenny Unsworth & Vikki Kemp will be showing their work until 1st of April at Bean & Brush Café in Sale. The café is open Mon-Sat 8:30am – 7pm, Sundays 9am – 6pm.

Reveal Printmakers have show opening this Saturday 14th March at Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery. Reveal are collective of 10 artists based in Salford. They each explore different subjects, styles and techniques. Make sure you don't miss out - the show is open until 10th of April!

Want to push your screen-printing skills further? Then our Expanded Screen-Printing Course is for you!
Much more than a basic introduction to screen printing, this 5 week evening course will show you the essentials of screen print – from mixing ink, setting up the screen bed, printing base colours and overprinting using drawn and photographic imagery. You will also explore mono-screen-printing, reduction using screen filler and different techniques for creating positives and making stencils allowing you to experiment with screenprint.
