About Hotdogs Training

Hotdogs training is run by Wendy Lunn a qualified and accredited member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers, and a qualified member of the Animal Care College in animal behaviour and psychology.

Our policy is to train in small class sizes so that dogs and handlers are given every opportunity to get the most out of each session. The emphasis is very much on socialising dogs with others and demonstrating that training and living with your dog is fun. Our training technique is based on the use of gentle, motivational methods. These methods are enjoyable to use and also enjoyed by the dog, with very high levels of success. Our trainers and assistants are covered by professional indemnity insurance, thus accepting responsibility for what they teach and providing the owner with protection. Veterinary Practices can therefore refer their clients with confidence. All trainers regularly attend workshops - to view the trainers qualifications click below next to the trainers name.

☆☆☆☆☆ Training in a very safe and friendly enviroment. Always made feel welcome and all the training is done with love. The staff are amazing and if you had to leave your pet with anyone you wouldnt think twice as you know they would be treated as there own. Would highly recommend.

What could be better than a well behaved, well trained dog. That’s what you get when you attend Hotdogs as well as lots of great advice, enormous fun and so much more enjoyment owning a dog that’s been properly trained with lots of praise and plenty of rewards. I first took my cocker spaniel in 2001 and have been delighted to take Foster my current dog. It’s so good to be back at Hotdogs 5 stars a the way.

Wendy makes classes fun for owners and dogs, with a strong emphasis on reward based training. Her understanding of the dogs is extraordinary and her patience with owners unending. Rebus and I enrolled for a beginner course a couple of years ago, and we keep coming back - he loves classes and we are both still learning new things.

Wendy and her team are simply the BEST, My 5 months boxer Pancho and myself have learn so much at Hotdogs Training. In every class we both take advantage of the knowledge they have and take on board all their advises. Pancho is not the perfect dog but all my friends always compliment on how well behaved he is for being a 5 months and I know most of the credit goes to Wendy and her team. Thank you for making this experience of being a "mummy" of a puppy, once of the best experience in my life xx

Wendy and her team are awesome! We started at Hotdogs with Jazz as a young puppy. The main reason we choose Hotdogs was because it was a Sunday morning meaning the kids could join in with the training. I loved the fact that the kids were allowed to be a part of it and Wendy encouraged the kids to get involved and stimulate Jazz.

Jazz loved the ladies and meeting all the other dogs. The class was friendly and fun and everybody participated. Wendy really helped me with my confidence and how to believe in my pup to do the right thing. Recall was a particular problem with Jazz but now I have the confidence to work with her still letting her off lead and I have the skills on how to manage the situation if she doesn’t come back. I could not have done this without Wendy and jo and I will always be grateful.

We have a very shy Miniature Poodle and Wendy has a world of knowledge about them. He loves coming to puppy class and is picking up the commands very well. The classes are relaxed and informal, we love coming every Sunday. Wendy is an amazing trainer and you will struggle to find a better place to take your puppy.

We currently have our third Rhodesian Ridgeback in training with Wendy and Jo. The first was ten years ago and Wendy’s infectious enthusiasm amazing. Training a pup is hard work so having a weekly session is a must in my book.

We are currently on our second set of classes with Wendy and her amazing team. We previously tried a different training school but being first time pooch owners I think we needed a different approach to what was being offered. Wendy understands that you are learning as much as your dog is and doesn't make you feel silly for not knowing things. Myself and hubby and our dog Eric have all come on in leaps and bounds. The classes are fun, engaging and our boy's waggy tail for the whole session each week says it all really! I hope they do an adult dog and OAP (old aged pooch) class as I can't see us ever wanting to stop attending!

Throughout my childhood I had always had a dog so when I moved in with Michael it seemed an obvious idea to get one, Michael however wasn't quite sure. It took me more than 3 years he finally gave in and now neither of us could imagine life without dogs. Anyone who knows Michael knows if he does anything he has to do it 'properley' so dog training classes were the next step.

In this month 10 years ago we met a very special lady when she came to our house to check that it was suitable for Cooper to live in. Since then Hotdogs has been a big part of our family's life.

We began like most people wanting a well trained, well behaved dog. Hotdogs did give us this but also helped us to see our dogs quirks and realise that these quirks were part of them and not something you'd want to train out of them.

Hotdogs see all owners and their dogs as individuals and will adapt training techniques to get the best out of everyone. We have been able to do scent work, agility and rallyo as well as more traditional obedience training giving us and the dogs variety and motivation. We have been able to bring these techniques home and include the whole family in training, and the children have even attended lessons aimed at young trainers, which they and the dogs have loved.

10 years on, 2 dogs and 3 children and we still attend Hotdogs and we are still learning. We don't need to keep going but we want to. Hotdogs has become part of our family and we wouldn't be without them.

My first Labrador’s (Spencer) training didn’t go very well at all (first time ever owning a dog too). We decided to use a local lady who came to the village Scout Hut for training. Spencer didn’t go down straight away so the teacher forced him down. After that every time the teacher came over he wet himself. We did not return to training, nor did we look elsewhere.

With our second Labrador, Jessie, we learnt from our mistakes. We were recommended Hotdogs Training. We were pleasantly surprised at our first class. They use kind, fair training and have patience of a saint. Wendy and team are always enthusiastic and happy to teach – you can see they love their job. Jessie turns 6 this year and we are still going, having fun and still learning new things. Sasha, who has been going to school for just over a year now still gets excited every time we pull in to the car park.

Although Hotdogs gun dog training has only been going for a few months, Jessie is a different dog. See loves being out in the fields. Those of you who know Jessie, in the school she is steady and very slow. Out in the field she is still steady but there is speed! It is lovely to see and Carol is doing such a great job with all the dogs. Some of them wouldn’t even pick anything up, now they are retrieving beautifully. I know that gun dog season has just finished, but fingers crossed if we carry on training like we are we will all be out in the fields next season.

I know have the honour of being part of the team, still learning myself, but I can now see first-hand how much fun it is and the joy it brings to watch how the puppies grow in confidence and bond with their owners. It’s lovely to be part of such a great school and team.

I would definitely recommend Hotdogs Training to any new puppy/dog owner.

I've known Wendy many years now and can recommend her for when you get your new puppy. It's really important to choose a great puppy school that suits you and your puppy and uses modern and kind methods . Wendy will give you loads of useful help and friendly advice. Her training methods are kind, fair and effective. I've taken several of my own dogs and puppies to her training classes and I started my own career in dog training through assisting her and her team and later on teaching for her at Hotdogs. I now work full time for an assistance dogs charity as a puppy trainer.

I thought my whippet was beautiful but dim. Since taking him to training I find he is quite a smart little fellow, just a bit different in his thinking process. He loves going to training and I am so impressed with the methods used here. It is such fun. I wish I had know about Hotdogs for my German shepherd, who at 16 is too old now! I definitely will bring any other dogs I get in the future. I have told all my friends about it and two of them also come and really like the classes.

I must be one of Wendy's oldest clients in terms of how many years I have been dog training with my Bernese. Started in August 1997 and now 5 dogs later still here training. All the dogs that I have just love going training. Always a good positive experience for them and they are always ready at the door on training day.raring to go.

Thank you Wendy and her team x

I have been going to Hotdogs for many years, originally with my 8 year old rescue Topper. Whoever said you can't teach an old dog new tricks hadn't been training with Wendy and the team!

I now have three more wonderful rescues and have just started with my newest recruit a 14 month old springer spaniel. Wendy and the team have also helped with my other springer rescue, so much so that he can now do some beautifully controlled work and show what a clever lad he is, as well as having gained a first place rosette at a BASC water scurry!

Hotdogs for me is about having fun with my wonderful four legged friends and strengthening our bond. Training takes time and perseverance, as well as understanding from the team what you need to do as a handler to get the most from your pooch!

I'd throughly recommend Hotdogs and getting in touch with Wendy and the team to find out more. Enjoy!

I can't speak high enough of Wendy and her amazing team at Hotdogs! They have been the most incredible support to me and Nellie for almost a year now and we couldn't be without them! Having a beagle I knew it would be tricky but Wendy totally understands us both and knows what's best for us and will always adapt accordingly if Nellie (or me!!) is having an 'off week' which is just what you need in a trainer! The support and encouragement we get at Hotdogs means the world to me! We couldn't be without you guys and all the laughs along the way - we're super excited to start agility too! Thanks ladies :) x

Hotdogs Training has been fantastic! Barney is my first puppy and I'm in training as much as he is. Wendy and the team provide a very relaxed, supportive environment where learning is fun...for both the the pups and their owners. In the short time we have been going to Hotdogs I have seen a huge improvement in Barney...but I have also seen a big change in me, going from over-anxious new mum to confident, chilled out human again! Can't recommend Wendy and the team highly enough to anyone with a new pup :-)

Holly is our second dog and we have just graduated from the puppy class and will be going to the novice class. Wendy and her team have a wealth of experience, The classes are small the training and advice is personalised to each dog. In fact usually to the handler as the dog knows exactly what to do. Its invaluable to have attended any classes but you will be hooked and realise its money is worth spending and investing as the pleasure can be trippled from your dog,

Hank and I have been attending Hotdogs for nearly two years since he was twelve weeks old. We thoroughly enjoy our weekly sessions - they're certainly worth the 60 mile round trip. Wendy encourages owners and dogs to realise potential demonstrating that reward based training works. She offers individualised advice and our classes are great fun. I wholeheartedly recommend Wendy Lunn and Hotdogs training.

User

Can highly recommend Wendy and her staff at Hotdogs. I first took my cocker spaniel Monty when he was 3 years old after his previous dog training school closed down, he thoroughly enjoyed his training and always got excited when the dog school bag was taken out of the cupboard. He was still attending at 13 years old when we had to make a very heartbreaking decision. Wendy was very supportive to us then and when we adopted Eva who was 11 months old and had different challenges. Training methods are kind, positive and reward based and classes are always so much fun for the dogs and the owners.
