We recently stayed at the Houndgate Townhouse for our wedding night and couldn't ask for a better experience!



We regularly dine at the venue and think both the food (and cocktails!) are second to none in Darlington - amazing quality products so we obviously had to stay here on our special night!



The room we stayed in was stunning and all the staff went the extra mile to help us celebrate our wedding day even further! We were touched with the complimentary fizz and breakfast pastries, thank you so much! You are all wonderful!



PS - You have the coolest baths & vintage telephones, we LOVE them!

We have just returned home after a fabulous stay if we could give it 10 stars we would, everything about this little gem of a place was perfect first class service food room made to feel so special wish we could have stayed longer and we will be back, a special thanks to Laura nothing was a problem to her and made our Anniversary perfect with such a lovely smile on her face always also thanks to Angela for a very warm welcome when checking in couldn't be more helpful all the staff are just fabulous just like the Hotel.

We have had an excellent stay at the Houndgate townhouse. The room was brilliant the food first class and very helpful and friendly staff. We will definitely be returning.

We had afternoon tea this Saturday for my daughters Birthday. The setting is lovely and the staff are very friendly. The afternoon tea was delicious and they also catered for 2 fussy 12 year olds who were worried they wouldn’t like anything - this was not the case and afternoon tea was demolished quickly! My daughter was given an extra sweet treat as it was her birthday, which was a lovely touch and she thought was fab. Would highly recommend and will look forward to another visit soon.

The place, food, setting was fab & added to the special day I was invited to a friends wedding. I certainly will come again and would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants something special a treat etc

Me & My husband go to the Townhouse quite regularly the food is to die for the staff are friendly and will do just about anything to make you feel special, we love the cocktails they are amazing , The Townhouse is a great place to meet and relax, we had our wedding reception there and we couldn't have asked for better service we would certainly recommend it and we couldn't have found anywhere better !

Just took my daughter here for a birthday treat for an Alice in wonderland afternoon tea , the service was excellent the food delicious, and the freshly made scotch egg exceptional , she love every bit especially the surprise they gave us of a chocolate written happy birthday wish , would defiantly make a return visit thank you to all the staff �

I have nothing but great things to say about this hotel, it's absolutely gorgeous. The service is exceptional, great atmosphere, lovely décor and the staff are awesome! The rooms are spacious, clean and provide all the amenities we need. The food is first class and nothing is too much trouble. Location is great, good base for visiting attractions nearby. I would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel - keep up the fab work!!!

Had my mums surprise 60th birthday party here. Staff couldn’t do enough from the moment I booked right through to the party it’s self. Lovely place, fabulous food & amazing staff.

From start to finish our wedding planning & day was fantastic. The venue is stunning, food truly gorgeous & the staff went over & above their roles- thank you so much for making our special day so memorable. X

Father's Day afternoon tea was really nice, we all enjoyed it even the gluten free version, only I will say the choice of dessert was a little disappointing as I know I couldn't have chocolate and orange items, I could have had something a little different to just oats i.e. a different piece of cake like I've had before.

The staff were very attentive and the live music was really good. Definitely worth the price and definitely will return. Thank you �

Came here for the Alice In Wonderland afternoon tea with my mum and we both loved it. The staff were very friendly and the building looked lovely inside. The food was amazing and very tasty and also very filling. We also saw some normal meals coming out and they looked great too. 100% would recommend to anyone and will be coming back for a meal 😊 Xxx

Attended our friends wedding here yesterday and we were lucky enough to be staying the night. I can not praise the staff enough they were absolutely fantastic, friendly and would do anything for us all. The food was beautiful and the rooms were lovely and nipping clean, I wish my own bed was as big and comfortable as the one in the room. I’d highly recommend this place we will definitely be returning

Best place in Darlington for a Christmas afternoon tea...very nice food and good service. A gem of a place.

Went last night for my wife’s birthday, evening meal, starters and mains were ok, desserts were a total let down. Such a shame, took the edge off the whole evening.
