Howard Arms Hotel

There is nothing wrong with the place. We enjoyed a lunch there and it was perfectly adequate. Not brilliant. The manager was actually apologetic about the food before hand (not having some things and the meal for two deal not being available) but he needn't have been. It was all fine, the pasta being the best of the dishes. There was just something missing, atmosphere? Comfiness? A je ne sais quoi! The likelihood is that if I was ever back in Brampton i'd try someplace else. But if you are there and hungry there are worse places.

Nice place with very friendly staff that did what they could to help. They even allowed us to bring in our dogs which was brilliant. Unfortunately the food was nothing special. Had a roast but thought it was tasteless. No flavour in the vegetables or gravy. Beef was nice though and reasonably priced.

Enjoyed a lovely family meal here while passing through the area , friendly welcome by staff bar was nice and clean , we all ordered off the light bite menu and one meal off the children menu all meals were served in good time and refreshing to see real home cooked food in a pub fresh cooked chips not frozen and local Cumberland sausage meal size was just rite and good value for money . This is somewhere i would visit again if i was passing by and would recommend a visit here .

The food was excellent. Our only complaint was the service was slow; we didn't complain but lest you think I'm just an impatient American, our server brought us 3 shots of amaretto on the house. So that mostly made up for it. Lovely setting. I recommend it.

Great little pub. Great selection of well kept ales. Good looking menu for food options. The landlord was very friendly and directed us to the beer garden on the top floor, great sun trap. Will be going back.

Just had a quick drink and early evening meal. Welcoming and attentive staff. Food was lovely.

Great rooms at a great price

staff were friendly and helpful I didn't think much of evening meal, but breakfast was good. Overall value for money.

Saturday afternoon and we were lost. After deciding a drink was the solution to our problems we walked in to the Howard Arms. They say every cloud has a silver lining, and this placed proved that theory. Run by an exceptionally friendly family, they had us sat in front of the real log fire with drinks in our hands. But that was not the surprise. The food was outstanding. We didn't come in to eat, but left amazed at the quality and freshness of the food and highly recommend the black pudding and haggis fritters with apple, cream and brandy sauce!! Was only on our way out we realised we"d sat where Charles Dickens had too.

Can't wait to get lost again!
