Went between Xmas and New year and saw a lot more than expected. Saw nearly every animal, which is nearly impossible in summer let alone winter. Even saw the gorillas being fed. Definitely will do it again.

Incredibly wonderful zoo. I feel completely at ease going there because it's so obvious the animals are well cared for and happy, and they do a lot of great conservation work. Got a really good range of animals as well, from a tiger who will try to mark you as her property, to a peacock that wanders freely around. I've had an amazing time here.

Brilliant day out. Great for all ages. Very good value for money. I would recommend taking a picnic as the food and drinks on site are in my opinion overpriced but that's what I would expect from any attraction.. it's how they make money after all. Will definitely be going again.

A wonderful place. If you live locally, as we do, cough up for an annual pass and go whenever you like. We go most weekends and my four year old daughter loves it. Yes, some animals are shyer than others (the small cats mainly) but if you go regularly you'll see everything on rotation. Makes it more fun trying to spot the pesky pallus cats, serval and honey badger! Food places and shop are decent and kids' play area is a huge bonus. Big place, well worth visit after visit.

I have been coming here for quite a few years. I love that they are helping to protect endangered animals. Also they have lovely enclosures. I it be good if they extended and added a bit more variety though.

More than one visit to see all is needed! Animal information talks. Lot of walking. Food is good. Picnic areas. Tree top walk for the brave.

We visited Howletts today (August 2017) with two small 4 week old grand daughters and two small boys and had a picnic in the grounds.
The whole site is beautifully laid out and the enclosures very well designed allowing the animals the privacy they need to flourish.
This obviously can make it hard to spot them amongst the trees and shrubs.
The gorilla enclosures were knee deep in fresh straw and there were many distractions for them to make themselves busy and contented.
In late afternoon (at feeding time) the animals were on "full alert" and many of the more shy members of the community came out to play!
The staff were very friendly and knowledgable and were all very helpful
I forgot to mention the Tree top challenge which the two grandsons really enjoyed!

Well done Howletts well worth the money and an excellent day out

Visited here rather than Port Lympne, as we had a pram to push. Very pleased with the whole park. Got here at half nine and left at half 4! As people have said in other reviews, it isn't a zoo. You have to be patient and spot the animals. But we saw everything - the animals are relaxed and seem happy in their environments. Got fantastic photos! The staff there are knowledgeable about the animals they care for and are obviously proud of the conservation work being done. The talks were really interesting, not purely to entertain the public.
We took a picnic and ate next to the elephants and rhinos. Toilet facilities were clean and refreshment stops regular around the park.
A great day out, even with changeable weather.

Loved howletts the animals looked happy and well looked after. Very big enclosures. Food in the restaurant was good we had the homemade soup. Was quiet when we went in march, didnt mind as we could see everything without the crowds. Can imagine it would be very busy in the summer and holidays. Well worth a visit.

Saw plenty of animals who were calm and relaxed, with plenty of safe areas to hide if wanted. Lack of refreshments as it is off season. Clean facilities.

Great day out with young kids. Fantastic views of gorillas, elephants, leopards, lions... Animals seemed happy and busy.

Animals have lots of space and freedom to be in or outside. They do lots of conservation work and programmes across the world aiming to release the animals back into the wild. Informative talks throughout the day and the animals look happy
