Hull People'S Memorial

The Hull People's Memorial will be built in the centre of Hull in commemoration of those who suffered the raids on our City.

The Hull People's Memorial project was launched following the Yorkshire Heroes /Heroes of Hull events in commemoration of the 70th anniversary (1941-2011) of the worst nights of the Nazi blitz on Kingston upon Hull. Over two days over 1, 200 visitors passed through the Carnegie Heritage Centre, Hull, and a great many of these visitors expressed their concern that Hull has never had a civilian war memorial.

These same emotions were prevalent at the Hull Family History Fair and Hull Blitz exhibition held in Hull's Costello Sports Stadium during the first weekend of October, 2011 and in an online petition on the Hull City Council web site early in 2012.
