Staff on Intensive Care Unit 2 at Hull Royal Infirmary, take a bow and thank you for all you do! Here's your nomination for this month's Moments of Magic.
"I would like to sincerely thank all the staff from ICU2 for showing nothing but sincere care and compassion to my beloved Auntie who spent 6 days in ICU after having emergency surgery after suffering from a stroke.
"Unfortunately, my Auntie never did wake up from the surgery & passed away 12 days later up on another ward ...but I cannot thank the staff enough how they cared for not only her but also my family.
"Nothing was too much trouble and was always around providing support. I am proud to work for the NHS but even more so after witnessing the outstanding staff we have up on ICU 2."

Thanks to all the team who dealt with more complex cases in what was a very busy month
Well done to our amazing team! What a busy time they've had
We wanted to help Mary so her grandsons wouldn't be frightened
Her grandsons were frightened of her false leg. So our staff did this!
What an amazing thing David did for this woman and her daughter!
They’re all amazing, all 3 of my babies were delivered here and although there were a couple of delays which were out of the staffs hands and couldn’t be helped, the care I received was second to none, I cannot thank you all enough for looking after my babies and I, you deserve medals with what you do and some of the things you have to put up with. Well done and keep up the good work xx
Thank you to the brilliant staff on Cedar ward who looked after me today following a horrendous miscarriage in the early hours. They were very caring and made me feel safe despite harrowing circumstances and special thanks to the nurse who introduced the Forget Me Not Boxes, I’m wearing my pendant on my necklace and it means the world to have a solid memory that I can keep forever, thank you xx
Thank you to doctors, nurses and midwives, who helped deliver my little Amber. It was not easy and straightforward, but staff and Hull Women and Children's hospital provided immense support during labour and recovery. Cannot thank you enough!
Julija, Glyn and Amber
Thank You to all the midwives, doctors & medical staff that took care of William & I. The support I received was exceptional. You helped to make my pregnancy, labour & those first few days of motherhood a really positive experience.
Our little boy Reuben was born here last week. We have been in and out of this unit many times over the last few years and every time we are met with happy, genuine caring people who always go the extra mile to help.
They made both my wife and I feel very safe and welcome and we cannot fault any area of the care they give. They are simply superb given the fact that they are under such pressure and budgetary constraints and can still deliver a world class service to everyone who walks through the door.
It really is a service that is worth investing in and protecting and this unit is the prime example of why that should be the case.
We extend our thanks to everyone here, especially those directly involved with us, for such a fantastic service and for being a real credit to our city and county.
My son Ryan was admitted to the acorn ward for surgery today and we were blown away by the level of care and understanding we received from start to finish. Ryan has adhd and autism and can be challenging at the best of times however all the staff nurses/drs/anaesthetist etc were all well prepared and couldn’t have been anymore accommodating. Also Maggie and Louise did a fantastic job in Ryan’s Pre op appointment. Well done to all xxx
Just come out of my appointment with a lady called Sarah in the Gynaecology department. I have never been made to feel more at home. She was absolutely amazing, and so were her colleagues. Thank you so much.
Just an amazing NHS midwife and staff team! thank you for everything for me and for my daughter safe delivery. also big thanks to student midwife who helped my husband to stay calm during my labour in theatre. much appreciated! xxx #NHS70
Im currently say here on Cedar ward as ive just had a laprascopy and cyst removal. This is my first ever operation and i was terrified to say the least. Im needle phobic and hospitals all round make me uneasy but i cannot express how amazing everyone has been. My mind was totally put at ease which i didnt think would happen.
Every single person here has been so kind and understanding. This is the first time ive not been laughed at because of my huge phobia of needles and no one said 'aww she needs the baby cream' like when i was admitted with a gallbladder infection.
The atmosphere is calm and relaxed with music playing in the back ground.
The guy who inserted my cannula understood my fears and was such a professional when it came to the insertion.
Im so happy my surgery took place here. I cannot believe everything has gone so well.
A big thank you to everyone ive met today, you are all awesome at your jobs xx
I received such excellent care from Zoe onaple ward last night. She was so caring and professional. As a nurse myself I'm quite critical of things, but she was everything a nurse should be. She reassured me and luckily after monitoring baby was fine. I feel so grateful for such a fantastic NHS service.
I had my first boy at this hospital by emergency c section 3 &1/2 years ago and I was absolutely made up with care of all involved in the process.
Just over couple of days ago I had another boy in this hospital and honestly couldn't have wished for better care, yet again all midwifes and doctors and all the staff made it the whole new and so beautiful experience. Thank you very much for all your hard work.
I can't praise the all midwives, transitional care nurses and doctors enough at Hull Royal. Following an emergency c section after developing pre eclampsia all the staff did amazing in trying to keep me as calm as possible whilst doing an amazing job in safely delivering my daughter. As my little girl was as 6 weeks early she spent 22 days in transitional care with me, the nurses were so lovely and friendly whilst helping me learn to look after my baby. Also, the midwives who work in the day unit downstairs who i saw regularly throughout my pregancy to check baby were lovely.
Home today after being in for five days after an emergency cesarean. Could not of asked for better midwifes! Really are an amazing team of women from start to finish, it was like being amongst friends. Made mine and my sons stay as comfortable as they possibly could, thank you
Had my son at Hull woman’s and children’s last week. The birth had unexpected complications as baby was breech. The midwives were amazing and even stayed to help me after their shifts were over. I and my husband could not have asked for better care and we will be forever thankful. A wonderful team who deserve recognition.
Had my daughter last week by c section at Hull women’s and children’s. After an awful emergency birth with my first child (at a different hospital), and explaining this to all staff involved- this c section was amazing; they made sure we knew what was happening, they continually spoke to us, they were calm, smiling and relaxed, and made memories we will cherish. What an amazing team of Doctors, midwifes and medical staff. We now have a wonderful healthy daughter.
The midwifes on maple ward were amazing and explained everything from arriving until she was born. The midwifes on Rowan ward were also wonderful with my aftercare, having to stay 3 days but my stay was made a happy one from these wonderful ladies, especially Elaine whom went out of her way to help and reassure me.
I cannot Thankyou enough, one very happy mummy
Had my 3rd baby here on Tuesday by section. Amazing from start to finish, the whole team were friendly and calm, answered all my questions and made the experience my best out of the 3. The staff on maple and Roman couldn’t do enough fo4 me and my little girl. Thankyou again x
Following a traumatic birth of my son 4 years ago, which ended in an emergency section.I gave birth to my second son 23/6/18. I cannot praise the staff enough on both labour and delivery, and the Rowan Ward enough. I feel extremely privileged to have had an amazing midwife, and midwife assistant to help me through my amazing VBAC. I Did pop up to the ward with biscuits and a card to say thank you I’m hoping my midwife (Kay hay) and midwife assistant (suzie) have managed to receive these, but the small gesture does not express just how grateful I am. Thank you to you amazing humans!! X
Amazing amazing hospital. Went in on 23/5/18 too have a planned csection and wow what an amazing experience. Every single staff member worked amazing as a team and really looked after us. They went the extra mile in everything and I felt totally looked after and safe throughout the whole experience. The midwifes were brilliant also with all breastfeeding advice given Couldn’t of chosen a better hospital!
After having a week in Women and Children’s last week running up to the birth of my baby girl I have to say the work and effort everyone in that hospital does is AMAZING! It was a hard week being induced then 16 hours in labour ending in an emergency c section. All the midwifes were incredible. Debbie Perrin you literally saved my life. Jo in Maple ward amazing and Vicki and Chelsea in Rowan ward. I can’t name everyone, but the work you do is fantastic!!! Me and Marc can’t thank you enough xxx
