Here's a very interesting article about how long does it take to save up for the deposit if you're in a position to buy a property for a first-time buyer.
Significantly, although not surprisingly, property prices in London and South of England have increased by a greater scale in comparison to properties in North East. However in order to save up the 20% deposit for a first-time buyer it takes almost as much time (9.6 years) as it takes for anyone who is living up in North En...gland (8.7 years).
Now the difference is more than noticeable, as a typical 20% deposit in London is now more than ¬Θ80,000.00 and in North it's around ¬Θ20,000.00, yet the difference of time spent saving money up for a first property in different regions is not that big, considering the house prices are almost as 4 times higher.
However, Dan Wilson Craw, of the Generation Rent lobby group, added: "High housing costs are eating into renters' take-home pay which makes saving for a deposit difficult in the country as a whole but near impossible in London and the South East of England.
"Renters deserve a stable home in return for their rent, but private tenancies simply do not offer this."
