Food excellent and hot and was serenaded by Roxy Scarle who's voice was amazing. Photo mirror was a great hit and have some great photos to remind us of the fab evening. Morning brunch catching up with new found friends was great such a choice. Can't wait for next year. Well done Hunton Park

Had our first wedding anniversary stay at Hunton Park this weekend and it was great to be back. New refurbishment looks great! Got welcomed by a lovely heart of petals and swan towels on the bed with a tasty ‘happy anniversary’ platter of cakes. Big shout out to Emily and Jamie who were super helpful and friendly. See you next year guys!

From the planning to the day its self I felt like I had the best person ever to plan our big day.

Alice made me feel like a VIP as the bride from the get go. Instantly making me feel confutable and relaxed.

I wasn’t a bride that knew what she wanted but Alice had great ideas to make our day ours. Everyone wants there day to be special and Alice ensured that it was exactly that. It was great to have someone to listen to you and take everything in.

After the planning we went back for our final meeting and it was great to see everything coming together. I was lucky enough to meet the events manager and some of the team (Heather and Carole) before our big day. I think it was great to get to have a chat and familiarise myself with the great and friendly staff.

The day went so smoothly and ran like clock work. The staff knew what they where doing from clearing the reception drinks to ensure a clean environment, to the food service that was quick and very professional. The food was amazing. It was presented so well and so delicious. The chefs did an fantastic job with all the food, and all of my guest complimented the high standard. Everything was clear and ready for the evening guests. The staff kept that standard up all through the night.

Alice, Heather, Carole, the chef Eric and the whole team made our day so amazing. A big thank you to all.

Mr and Mrs Davies.

We were here to have Afternoon Tea as part of a Virgin experience day at Harry Potter World. Didn't know what to expect as I had seen mixed reviews but I have to say myself, my husband and our grown up kids thoroughly enjoyed it. We all said we would definitely return.

User

We did the murder mystery evening it was brilliant the actors/actresses were great, really good fun.

Food was nice but not much, also the menu didn’t have much choice.

The venue is lovely the rooms comfortable one recommendation the room could of had bottled water with the tea & coffee.

All in all a fabulous evening we will definitely be doing the murder mystery night again.

User

Had the two course meal through groupon for four people was really lovely, staff very helpful, i wrote in comments when booking that it was my Nans 80th birthday and they brought her out a cake which I wasn’t expecting and was a very lovely gesture!

The only reason I didn’t give 5 star is because the beef was a tad tough but couldn’t fault anything else!!

User

Absolutely fine stay after a wedding day, everything appeared to work in the room (#37) and the grub was fine. Only issue was at breakfast where the one bloke trying to clear up and serve drinks was run ragged.

User

We were given an unfinished room obviously they have builders in but the room shouldn't have been allocated until the work was complete. There was no toilet rolls and the phone didn't work so had to ring reception on an outside line from my mobile. On returning to the room after the party there was still no toilet roll so had to ring again. The staff were miserable and there was only 1 person working the bar so it was difficult to get served. We were given a discount when checking out after complaining but it spoilt our experience.

User

Would not go again, swimming pool closed on Sunday’s, We were asked to leave the gardens by some sour faced old cow, who was extremely rude, as there was a wedding on. Supposedly a walk round the gardens if you can call them that was included with our meal. Which we both choose Roast Beef Sirloin, which was way over cooked, although the receptionist and restaurant staff were all friendly and the rest of the meal was OK, a bit less rosemary on the roast potatoes would be a good idea and a sign informing dinners the gardens are out of bounds if there is a wedding on should have been displayed, it is a shame that old cow ruined our day out, she made us feel like we were intruding, trespassers who were invading her personal space. Well let me tell you this for free I wouldn’t touch that with yours.

To say the description of this place is a beautiful house, grounds, and refurbished rooms is so far from accurate. I wish i could share photos to show you just how bad this place is. We've checked in here today where weve come for a nice London break away from the norm, kids, dogs, etc expecting to be able to relax and unwind. After walking through the freezing dirty corridors to our room we found it to be very grotty and also freezing (just like the corridors) The throw on the bed has crusty stains on it, the hospitality tray is covered in stains and sugar, the bathroom mirror was badly smeared and the tv doesnt have a decent reception so is unwatchable. We reported all this to reception to be offered another room directly opposite the 1st. This had obviously been cleaned by the same cleaners as the 1st room and the tv reception was even worse, hense we decided to stay put and save the hassle of having to move all of our stuff. We decided to have a walk to the bar to see if we could settle down with afew drinks and watch tv in there but it was so cold we couldn't relax. We asked where the restaurant was so we could go and have a meal and the staff member said she'd fetch us a menu to look at while we finished our drinks. Instead she came back and told us that they weren't opening the restaurant as there was only the chef and herself working so they wanted to keep thing's easier for them so we had to stay where we were and order from the bar menu if we wanted to eat. We did order food as we'd not eaten all day and what we had was quite nice. We just couldn't get comfortable while eating it as we were freezing by this point. Now back in our room with a hot choc to warm us up we've had to turn the tv off as its unwatchable and reside ourselves to a very early night. This is not what we were led to believe we would be sleeping like when booking into a Mercure hotel. Can't say as im looking forward to another night of this tomorrow at an even higher rate than what weve paid for tonight. Very disappointed is an understatement!!!

Set out below are the issues during the stay.

Fire evacuation plan in room not updated to reflect renovation. As you will know the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 demands that these are up to date and correct. They are not an do not take into account the renovation work. Including the lack of powered emergency lighting in corridors (temp lights exist but not to standard is can be easily switched off).

On the renovation work why on booking or contacts prior to arrival we were not informed of the state of the building, or real information from reception on check in.

No card was taken at check in denying us the ability to charge to the room. First bar visit entailed traipsing back to the room (through the artic corridors and back )

Very noisy heating system in room, necessary to be on all night due to heat leaking windows

No extractor fan working in bathroom, making room so steaming water condensing on floor

Towel rail has exposed electric plate in wall (pic available) adjacent to where wet towels are placed

No working phone in room

TV untunable and most channels not working Inc BBC when international sporting events (Olympics) are taking place

Number of power sockets in room not working

No plug guard in shower. Stubbed toe on open hole in shower tray twice

Curtain poorly fitting so draped on floor. Bed so close no option but to walk over curtains with potential trip hazard

As you can see there are a catalogue of fails, mostly linked to the refit in some way. We did report some of these to reception but and offered to pay an upgrade but none were available.

Food ok service was bad , Husbands drink never arrived, we skipped starter for pudding ate dinner and no one returned to our table so we were left just sitting there with no drink no desert and no waiter/ Waitress

Saturday 16th september - Came here with my sister as part of the Warner brothers tour experience package for the afternoon tea. We arrived in the car park 35 minutes before our allotted time for the afternoon tea, to find a huge wasp nest behind the space we parked in, meaning it was almost impossible to get anything out of the car because of very angry wasps. Then as we didn't have any idea what we were doing - very poor booking procedure - we went down to reception 10 minutes before our booking to be told we would have to sit and wait and we would be called through when our table was ready - which was fine, we understood that we were early.

We sat and waited, it came to the time we had booked for and we were still sat waiting and it was starting to get very crowded. Then 20 minutes after our booked slot we were still sat waiting so we asked reception what was happening as we still hadn't been called through and a lot of other people had gone in - despite no one being called, including a couple of people who we knew weren't even in the 3pm booking - she was very rude and acted as if we were a hinderance. She came back within seconds saying they were just getting the table ready. We decided we might get noticed if we went and stood in the corridor where other people had gone down.

45 minutes after our booking we were finally sat. I had a juice and my sister had a tea - no milk or sugar was provided for us. We enquired as to whether they did a vegetarian option and the waitress was very lovely and helpful. 10 minutes after being seated the waitress came to check if fish was okay or if it was full vegetarian. 5 minutes later - an hour after our booked slot - we finally got our sandwich, cakes and scones. Scones were warm - which was nice, the vegetarian sandwiches were: humous & grated carrot, cheese & pickle, egg, and a tomato with cream cheese. Then the cakes were carrot cake, chocolate brownie, a tiny jam tart and a macaroon - that sadly didn't taste if anything.

The food was nice, it was just a shame it took so long.

The best thing about the whole experience was the lovely waitress (didn't get her name but she had dark hair and a fair few ear rings) and the waiter - again didn't catch his name but he was the only male waiter we saw - they were both very warm, welcoming and gave fantastic service, however no one apologised once for the ridiculous wait, nor did it seem like we mattered at all.

We understand that there was also a wedding and some kind of conference happening, but at the end of day we expected more.

Looks great on arrival......then when you get inside it's awful.

Very dirty, untrained staff, etc etc.

The beer is disgusting and all types served in Ale glasses ?? They don't even sell ale ?

Plates and glasses left for hours and not cleared away, I could go on but just to say, DONT STAY HERE

User

Ignoring the fact of refurb as you expect a little “hassle”, but... having asked for a ground floor room we didnt expect to go up steep stairs, along a corridor and down the other side and come back on ourselves ti get there. Tv worked for about 30 mins but no bbc or itv channels, then completed failed, went to ring reception but the phone didnt work! Rung from mobile twice before they answered to be told, tv broke everywhere, phone dont know. Heating (might be new) either blew 30c or 0. New shower lovely, but door too small so water flows straight on floor resembled a foot bath. When asked how was stay, explained all, reply oh sorry....... go back, think you can answer tgat!
