Hunts Lib Dems Description

The constituency of Huntingdon is in the beautiful county of Cambridgeshire and includes the historic towns of Huntingdon, St Ives, St Neots, and Godmanchester. Huntingdon, the historic county town of Huntingdonshire, is famed as the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell and has been the site of a settlement since at least the sixth century. St Ives sits at the edge of the Great Fen, on the River Great Ouse, and also shares a connection with Oliver Cromwell, who lived there between 1631 and 1636. St Neots takes its name from an advisor to Alfred the Great and has been settled since the tenth century. Godmanchester, which also sits on the River Great Ouse, has been settled since Roman times.

The Liberal Democrats in Huntingdon are the only real opposition to the Conservatives. Only the Liberal Democrats can defeat the Conservatives in Huntingdon.

On Huntingdonshire District Council, the majority of the Liberal Democrat opposition group serve in the Huntingdon constituency, giving people in the constituency a strong local voice at district level.

The Liberal Democrats also form the opposition to the Conservative administration on Cambridgeshire County Council.
