Joy attended the College conference and was fascinated to hear the advances being made in stem cell technology and gene therapy in the field of Age Related Macular Degeneration. The results to date are very promising.

We are having a fabulous coffee morning today with all proceeds to Optometry Giving Sight. We raised £125 which will be used to help buy medicines for a small fishing community in Sri Lanka

Many congratulations to Nilpa who was awarded The George Giles Postgraduate Research Prize for her research into the improvement of measurement of visual function in clinical settings, which gave rise to the development of Moorfield's Acuity Chart

Totally awesome service, we were initially looked after by Tracy who managed to get out daughters prescription. This was no easy task requiring lots of patience and imagination. We were then looked after by Pauline who had her work cut out. Our daughter is autistic and a handful at the best of times. It was amazing how Pauline dealt with our daughter, put her at ease. The staff at this shop are all really nice and very accommodating even down to singing nursery rhymes with my daughter. Thank you all very much, can not recommend you all highly enough.

This is an amazing opticians leave the High Street chains and get your eyes tested here. The staff couldn't be more friendly the expertise could not be more first class and the customer care during appointments and beyond is quite exceptional.

This is a top notch shop not a chain and we were made welcome and comfortable. We had thorough eye checks with Tracey and only my husband needed new specs. They have a great range of frames and they took time to measure up his new specs which I am sure will be perfect. Thank you to everyone at Hynes for caring

You truly helped turn what seemed like a daunting situation at first into a relaxed journey for Teddy and his first specs. We can’t thank you enough and would recommend you to everyone!

I would like to thank the entire team at Hynes for helping me to pick the perfect pair of Lindberg spectacles together with Nikon varifocal lenses. Thanks to Linda for the warm welcome, Nilpa for the thorough eye test and most importantly to Daniela for spending close to two hours on a Saturday morning helping me pick the perfect pair of light weight spectacles and varifocal lenses that would suit my everyday needs. Before coming to Hynes, I used to have occupational glasses for work and varifocals for driving but now I can manage with just one pair for everything. Well done Hynes.

I chose Hynes because it is my local independent optometrists. You may be able to get better deals from larger chains, or cheaper glasses online, but the quality and service I got from Hynes can't really be beaten in the impersonal high-street chains or online.



From start to finish, I was made to feel welcome, valued and indeed part of the family by everyone from the reception staff, to Joy (the co-owner and an Optometrist) to Davina (I hope I got that name right) the Dispensing Optician.



The service was amazing - an hour for a full checkup, including laser scans, pressure tests (with a cool gadget from Finland that gently pokes your eyeball rather than blasting it with air) and a full explanation of what everything does including a detailed rundown of what the laser scan does or doesn't show on my poor old eyeballs.



There's plenty of choices of frames - I could find at least 5 that I liked and suited me so it wasn't restrictive (I have a fat head) and they can do anything you like in terms of lenses (including the Nikon ones with scratch-guarantee that I went for because I'm careless with my glasses).



Delivery was quick - I was promised 1-2 weeks, it actually turned out to be fewer than 7 days - I got the call that the glasses were ready a few minutes before the day and time I had the appointment the previous week.



All in all, I'd definitely go back - to be honest I'm almost looking forward to it!
