Touch presents…
UnicaZürn Howlround
... Friday 1st February doors 7.30pm – music 8pm | £12 adv / £14 door
UnicaZürn (David Knight and Stephen Thrower).
UnicaZürn build their long, ceaselessly evolving musical compositions through a process of improvisation followed by careful editing and processing. Their music, drawn from subconscious associations while recording, is frequently aquatic or oceanic in overall mood and texture. Knight has spent most of his life living on the banks of the Thames while Thrower resides on the East Sussex coast, and their musical flights of imagination tend toward rolling river dynamics and the open seas of synthesised sound.

IKLECTIK presents:
Book launch: The Political Possibility of Sound: Fragments of Listening by Salomé Voegelin, Bloomsbury, 2018
Thursday 24th January doors 7 pm- start 7.30pm | FREE EVENT
... The essay is the perfect format for a crisis. Its porous and contingent nature forgives a lack of formality, while its neglect of perfection and virtuosity releases the potential for the incomplete and the unrealizable. These seven essays on The Political Possibility of Sound present a perfectly incomplete form for a discussion on the possibility of the political that includes creativity and invention, and articulates a politics that imagines transformation and the desire to embrace a connected and collaborative world.
Seven artists, authors, theorists and practitioners will respond and engage each with one of the seven essays that form the book, expanding and challenging the writing beyond its pages into the imagination of the listener.
Nina Power teaches Philosophy at the University of Roehampton and is the author of many articles on politics, philosophy and culture.
Angus Carlyle’s research responds to inhabited environments through film, soundworks and textual practices, shifting between collaborative and solitary endeavours, the documentary and the poetic.
Thomas Gardner is a cellist, musician and sound artist. His current work considers the ways in which the post-war ruptures of art-music, as exemplified by the Darmstadt school, are met by an increasingly political understanding of sound art.
Aura Satz’s practice encompasses film, sound, performance and sculpture. She has performed, exhibited and screened her work nationally and internationally. She is Reader and Tutor at the RCA (Royal College of Art).
Mikhail Karikis’ work embraces moving image, sound and other media to create immersive audiovisual installations that emerge from his long-standing interest in the voice as a material and a socio-political agent.
Kevin Logan is a cross-disciplinary artist/researcher/teacher based in London. His work foregrounds sonic practice using a speculative blending of writing, performance, moving-image, and installation.

IKLECTIK presents:
CIA Debutante/ Cyanching / Beachers
Thursday 3rd January doors 8pm – music 8.30pm | £7 adv / £9 door [fees apply]
... CIA Debutante:
Nathan Roche (Le Villejuif Underground) & Paul Bonnet (Disposition Matrix).
freedom indoor workshop, eternally temporary composition. lofi spirit, spoken word, guitar, synths. hits from the future. (Tanzprocesz, Royal Sperm, Crudites Tapes, Tandem Tapes, Czaszka Records, Evocative Objects )
« CIA Débutante sounds like Dead C On McIntosh but when they were only 25years old» – Clark Gable
“will likely scratch the inch for those with an interest in, say, early industrial music, library music, The Shadow Ring, and spy films. A solid release.” – FreeFormFreakout
“With or without headphones, these tapes just keeps getting better &better with each listen.” –
https://cassettegods.blogspot.com/…/cia -debutante-we-will-p…
“Like painting over a canvas so many times that the paint peels and cracks in places, while retaining a shadow of the original image beneath, ‘We will play for spirits’ is densely layered and mysterious. On ‘Phonetapping’ and ‘Forty-eight dollars a night neon’, delicate synths and miniature drum machine cymbals are penetrated by crushing vocals and screaming frequencies swathed in distortion. Loosely inspired by an “air crash,” each song seems guided by the harmony of alien lifeforms. A harmony disturbed by an unfamiliar relic – a muffled human voice captured on chewed up tape-loop. One could listen for eternity and never unravel the code..” – Critic NZ.

User

An oasis of peace and avantgarde art and music right in the centre of London.

User

Amazing location and staff!

User

A great venue, intimate atmosphere, friendly staff. Had a terrific night with a wonderful line up of Rothko, Dark Room, Yellow6 and Machinefabriek.

User

A gem in the heart of city. A hide out for fun people. Relaxed and friendly.

User

Warning to musicians - don't accept a booking here. The place is nice enough but the management is appalling - cancelling concerts at short notice with no explanation and ignoring attempts to contact them. At least one band that has managed to play here has been short-changed (paid a third of the agreed fee) - so an inability to treat musicians and concert attendees in a professional fashion seems to be a regular issue. Hopefully they'll get a proper management in place soon.
