Tracking drums today with @TRASH HEADS for their new album, keeping it real with half the band in the live room and bass/vocals in the control room.

Through the glass Bones from Morass Of Molasses is listening through the final mixes of the new album. I don't think I've mixed bass this loud ever, it's such a fundamental part of their sound I'm glad we managed to nail it.

Spent the weekend tracking drums for Just Say Nay new album. Notes: Tried spot micin the ride and hats from underneath to reduce bleed. Verdict: Didn't reduce bleed much but like how the attack of the cymbal was dulled which blended with the overheads nicely.

New Coast to Coast UK release I produced. Be Kind.

Did something a little different with Tom from @fes_band this week on his snare, used a control ring and some moon gel on the ring to weight it down for a super dry sound without killing too much high end with lots of gel directly on the skin, I guess it’s working a bit like a snare weight so when you hit the snare it lifts a little bit giving you the full tone of the drum. Tape because it kept coming off.

Sad Better Than Never have called it a day. They've put out the last 3 tracks we worked on which I think are their best. I was stoked how they came out, worth a listen.

Not only does he have the most beautiful complexion and skin tone, but he also has a real penchant for creating some audio magic.



If they still executed witches and wizards Ian would be the first to go, because he creates incredible music on unparalleled levels that can only be explained by super natural forces.

Not only did the recording help us get signed but the label boss was so impressed with the sound he is pushing other bands on his roster to use the place.

Not a big fan of the bananas that the Engineer (ian) eats tho. They are too large & probably contain GM ingredients.

My band traveled from France to record with this great man and all we can say is that we weren't disappointed at all. We couldn't expect a better 17 hour long recording session.

Lots of good advice that helped us find the perfect tone to record the greatest song we've ever made so far.

Ian knows when to develop an idea and how to get the most out of your music. His results are second to none for a very reasonable cost!

Ian is somewhat of a crook and prioritises eating French stick and hummus over the music, yet Ian somehow manages to achieve a great end product. I.e. a sweet guitar tone, thunderous drums and bass better than any buttery biscuit out there.

Ian is fantastic! My band and I had the best time recording our EP and his knowledge and advice really helped us hone our sound and make our shitty songs sound waaaaay better than they are! Also we ate a shit tonne of hummus!

Ian is an awsome guy to work with!

Cannot pick a fault with him or his work he produces, such a relaxed atmosphere to be in, and I don't think I could trust anyone else with my material! :))

Ian is a beast at recording drums , awesome guy , awesome studio . Great at what he does.

I've used Ian on a couple of projects and every time I've had a great time in the studio and the outcome has been above our expectations. He gets the best out of your performance and gets the tightest and slickest sound out of everything you play. Great guy and great equipment... Overall, I'd recommend to anyone willing to pay really good prices and expecting an awesome recording!

Fantastic recording at ridiculously good value. Ian works with you to get the most out of you. Cannot recommend enough.

Been in many studios and worked with various sound engineers but Ian really gets it and helps bands produce the sound they are after, getting the best from them on the way. Always a fun experience and not only do the band i play in always go to him now, we tell anyone we know to check him out too. Absolutely great work and would suggest anyone to check him out and book into Emeline studios asap if they are serious about a quality result.

An absolute sorcerer when it comes to drum tone. Recorded there twice now and have not seen the level of commitment and passion for the project at hand before or since. Seemly endless supply of coffee and biscuits. A genuine, honest all round good guy who has a fantastic musical ear and an obvious love for the art form. Highly recommend and i WILL be returning.
