About Icarus Theatre Collective

The Icarus Theatre Collective explores the harsh, brutal side of contemporary and classical theatre. We choose to relish in what others shy away from, show what others daren't, destroy boundaries when others would create rules.

Icarus Theatre Collective Description

The Icarus Theatre Collective explores the harsh, brutal side of classical and modern drama. We also value post-modernism and the great surrealists, blending classic stories into a new Theatre of the Absurd, which maintains a cohesive, evocative story. Tales of mutilation, rape, and incest are not anathema to us, rather we choose to relish what others shy away from, show what others daren’t, destroy boundaries when others would create rules.

Not only does the company perform all over the UK and Ireland, it also has an education department that offers various workshops and masterclasses depending on your educational needs and our tour schedules.

Each workshop lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes an education pack.

Icarus has created a number of key skills Masterclasses, aimed at developing gifted students with an established or potential interest in drama.

The Masterclasses include:

*Stanislavski
*Brecht
*Theatre of the Absurd
*Shakespearean etiquette
*Greek chorus
*Technical theatre and design
*Movement, text and actor

In honour of Pride, Icarus would like to announce that we are helping Ert Records bring "How to Be a Bad Girl" to the Free Fringe! https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/how -to-be-a-bad-girl

Top notch production of Hamlet in Dublin! #eire #theatre

User

Thank you for an amazing production of Hamlet tonight in Cork. The entire cast was superb and the emotion so palpable.

User

Saw Hamlet in Huddersfield and it was just fantastic 😊

User

Pupils and staff from Coatbridge High School thoroughly enjoyed the fabulous performance of Hamlet this morning and the brilliant workshop this afternoon:)

Thank you!

My husband attended the stage adaptation of At The Mountains of Madness last night at the Byre Theatre and said it was excellent. The acting, lighting and sound stage were very professional and the translation from book to stage a delight. Highly recommended and, hopefully, not the last Lovecraft adaptation they produce!

User

Mountains of Madness was superb. A gripping performance and cleverly staged.

I just got back from watching the production of Macbeth in Hartlepool Town Hall Theatre... wow! I was front row to fabulously choreographed stage fighting which included some rather energetic and daring wrestling moves! The actors worked so hard and delivered a hard hitting version of Macbeth that has left me in awe of the actors. What a fabulous job! I just had to feedback what a fabulous production this was and I'm sure we will see all of these actors in many future productions. Congratulations.

User

Excellent performance tonight at The Capitol theatre in Horsham, I myself am not fond of Shakespeare but I did enjoy the performance. It was brilliant!!!

User

Both shows were brilliant.Well done to everyone involved

Awesome portrayal of H.P. Lovecraft's 'At the Mountains of Madness'.

So enjoyable in fact I've seen it twice (at Guildford's 'Yvonne-Arnaud' theatre and Clapham's 'Omnibus' theatre), and no doubt will be seeing it again if the tour continues for some time :)

Thank you Tim and Max - I spoke briefly with you both at Omnibus, but once again thank you :) Thanks also to Theo (whom I saw in the Rehersal Interview youtube video) for having the initial idea to bring this story to the stage, and thanks to all else involved. It really was a wonderful production of a story I love and that has been very influential for me.

Today I also listened to the CD version I purchased at Omnibus, and it's very pleasing that I can relive this adaptation at any time :)

Amazing preview of Macbeth tonight. I particularly loved how the characters switch seemlessly and how rhythmic the language and sound effects were when merged together. Wonderful acting and fantastic production.

User

Absolutely fantastic. All cast members in the Hamlet production did a brilliant job.

User

Absolutely amazing. Very talented actors. My second production and can't wait for the next.

User

A wonderful production! I was transported, the acting is superb, the movement so complements the text and Shakespeare is brought to life in a modern production. I really recommend this production.

User

A fantastic performance of Othello at the Palace Theatre in Kilmarnock tonight! The small audience was a shame (but not entirely unexpected - Kilmarnock and Shakespeare do not go well together) but the actors, actresses and directors involved should know that those there enjoyed it immensely. Thank you!

User

A fantastic evening of HP Lovecraft. Best night out in ages. Come back to Chesterfield soon.
