Last week we had the pleasure of hosting some incredible skating for the British Solo Dance Championships 2018 with plenty of iceSheffield winners, all trained by our fantastic coach Mark Hanretty! ⛸️⛸️⛸️
Ashley Mitchell (in grey) won the senior category. Ashley is a 24 year old from Scotland who travels every week to Sheffield to train with Mark.
Alana Pang (in green) won the basic novice section. She’s a 13 year old who’s now two time British champion having won the younge...r category last year.
Alana’s sister Lillie (wearing red and cream) was the silver medalist in the youngest category (juvenile) with Marks only other student remaining Molly Hairsine (in pink) finishing in 3rd place.
Congrats to all our competitors, there were some brilliant performances from everyone!

Would just like to thank all the on and off ice staff for all the help they gave my husband on Sunday we came for a fun session which turned out to be a total disaster his ankle gave way on the ice and staff was quick on the scene to get him off the ice and examined and advised us to go to hosp turned out it was a really bad brake and needed operating on can’t thank them enough even got him outside to car for us xx

User

Like to watch the occasional ice hockey game here - it’s more personal than the arena games. Your closer to the action. Food is a lot better than arena - great pie & peas.

User

Just celebrated our sons 21 st birthday with 19 friends and family . With the help of Kayleigh we enjoyed 2 hours of highly competitive curling. Such a laugh and great for everyone. Excellent pie and pea supper before and yummy hot chocolate after the completion . Thank you IceSheffield .

User

Icesheffield is great. Plenty of ice space and even better they have adult only skating which i love because its not as crowded and gives me chance to practice my figure skating moves. Everybody at icesheffield is so friendly snd easy to get on with and the ice is smooth so it makes it much easier to practice unlike my local ice rink. Look forward to coming again soon.

User

Fantastic venue for ice skating and hockey. My kids come for leisure skating, skating and hockey lessons and we have always encountered friendly and helpful staff, great coaches and good facilities. Yesterday we attended for the Skate with the Steelers event and everyone had a great time. I would recommend Ice Sheffield to beginners and experienced skaters alike.

User

Brilliant facilities, including 2 ice pads, clean building especially the toilets. Good parking spaces. Also, benefits from surrounding open space and good location. Not to forget friendly and supportive staff members.x

User

I can't comment on the actual venue as we chose to go elsewhere when we found out it would cost nearly £20 for my partner and 2 year old daughter to go skating.

we went to Doncaster dome, partner and daughter went ice skating and all three of us went swimming for £15.??.

Granted it's further away but we all had a wonderful time and full day out.

out of principal we couldn't bring ourselves to pay that price at ice Sheffield, especially considering the age of our daughter.

User

Facilities OK no issues however management, organisation and certain attitudes of staff are a different issue and that hasn't changed in attending the rink for lessons etc in the last yr.

User

2 day ice hockey tournament. 180 players.... plus familes. The bar service was less than efficient. One till? most of the time only 2 staff? A panini 'ran out of ham' so just had cheese as didn't want the substitute, onion, but the price was the same because ' the till won't let me do anything else?' Computer said 'no' no draft coke either. C'mon ice Sheffield you knew how many people would be in your great venue this weekend. Stock control is a basic of the hospitality industry ....... disappointed

User

Yes it's an ice rink but heaven forbid don't try and wear any hockey kit unless you're under 6! Our son who's 11 desperately wants to be a net minder. We got some knee pads so he could go skate in them before he goes into hockey training. They booted him off now there's no signs up and I've seen plenty of kids in kit needless to say a very gutted boy! Thanks guys way to go 🖒

User

The 2 star is not for the reception area nor is it for the ice rink and staff as they were brilliant, it is for the upstairs cafe and food service. Half term and there was only 1 person serving, wrong food order arrived twice, the food was terrible and cold. Will definitely visit again for skating but will eat else where!

User

My son has had 3 different instructors in as many weeks. He can do somethings in the level above but as he is struggling with stops is unable to move up, I don’t have an issue with this. However having a different instructor every week is not constructive. The instructor he had last week suggested fetching an aid in to help control his upper body as she believed that was the issue for his struggling but when coming to lessen with the aid this week a different instructor told he he was not allowed to use it (even after explaining why he had it) and never offered any other suggestions on how to help him. I understand everyone has different teaching styles but children also have different learning styles that Ice Sheffield are clearing choosing to ignore!

User

Mixed Review - the rink itself is great, love coming here with the kids, always found it clean & the staff on reception and on the rinkside friendly & helpful. The cafe/bar area upstairs however is a different matter. Staff have no interest, they look like they don't want to be there, that's when you can get their attention. The counter was unmanned as they were talking in what I assume is the kitchen area behind the counter. The food isn't great either. Overdone baked potato & salad that was far from fresh. Whilst there I saw several people leave the counter area as they got fed up of waiting for staff to appear to serve them.

User

I used to love bringing my son here for lessons every week; then we swapped to a Saturday... The majority of the staff are mediocre at best and some of the teachers think that belittling the students is a good plan. That's if they actually teach the lesson and not keep threatening to move the kids down a level or three. My child that loved skating now cries that he has to come.

User

After coming here since this venue opened, it is quite rapidly loosing its touch. The Ice on the public rink has become horrendously maintained with uneven flooding ridges and 2/3 of the rink been absolutely soaking .

Last weekend , we queued for 40 mins to gain entry due to only 1 member of staff been on the payment tills .

User

What a total shambles is this skate with the steelers no one knows what they are doing fast track is a shambles get it sorted siv its laughable

User

Is there any chance of the queue ever moving? Been stood for over an hour. Regularly come at least once a week and today has made me want to never come again. Not enough staff on the tills for the amount of people and people jumping the queue with no questions asked. Fed this back to the person on the gate and she just says "thanks for queuing"

User

Ice in poor condition hired skates shocking and to charge £5:10 for a child’s “penguin “ support was really excessive

User

Could I please ask why on earth a new rule has been introduced to stop skaters, children and adults alike, from wearing protective gear eg helmets ? Who on earth thought this was a good idea. I work with people with brain injuries and any move to prevent these tragic scenarios from increasing is important. What harm does it do to wear a helmet? Please reverse this ridiculous ruling. ( oh by the way, people paying for private lessons in hockey skating on the same session are allowed to wear all their protective gear !)
