IKSAC had another great long weekend away diving in Scotland. The weekend started with Gary and a small group visiting the seals at The Farnes and then the larger group met up at St Abbs taking over the Rock House, numerous B&B's and camp sites. IKSAC presented a cheque to the ST Abbs Independent Lifeboat from our recent fundraising evening. A massive thanks to everyone involved in raising this money. This independently run St Abbs life boat is absolutely essential in that area, not only is it situated in probably the busiest UK scuba diving areas but it’s the only boat that can be launched at low tide In that area, hopefully myself and my friends will never require your services but if we do we have the comfort in knowing that such a great team will be there to help save us. On Sunday 29th July, four intrepid divers braved the rain and generally overcast weather to take a dip or two into Stoney Cove. The weather was warm and there was plenty to see including: a visit to Nessy, lots of crayfish, many shoals of fish, a wreck or two and an enormous pike! Anthony & John K led the diving with Tonya and Anthony marshalling and believe it or not, Tonya even got wet herself (and not just with the rain!) Lots of new equipment was tried out and we had a great day out, completing two successful dives!

A quick update for you all on a few recently announced trips
The 2019 IKSAC Red Sea Trip organised by Angela is now fully booked. I think we may need two boats for 2020 if we do it again
Gary has recently announced he is planning another dive trip to Croatia in 2019. Four places are already booked - flights including 22kg luggage are currently around £260 with boat diving, shared accommodation and transfers another £340. This trip is for SAA Club Divers and above due to dept...h limits. If you are interested or want more details let Gary know
John and Ant are planning a dive (or 2) at Stoney this Sunday. 9 o'clock start. Theo has expressed an interest in having a dive. Everyone is welcome but bear in mind, if you're a trainee, you will need to have an Instructor/DL - so we will have to see how many Instructors/DL's fancy it. Let Tonya know if you want to join in
Earlier this year I went on what was supposed to be a trip of a lifetime to the Socorro Islands in search of the big stuff, more sharks than you can imagine, whales and of course the giant oceanic mantas that like to play in your bubbles. It was so good I've got it all again in 2020 so if your interested let me know and ill give you some details about the trip
Only a few weeks now until IKSAC dive at our old favourite St Abb's on the 17th to 19th August. See Richard for more details
A few photos below from our previous trips to wet your appetite
See you at the pool later

A remarkable conclusion to a remarkable rescue operation. Against the odds all of the 12 teenage boys and their coach were rescued from the Tham Luang Cave Complex today. Let's not forget the divers and the volunteers divers especially this man Sgt Major Saman Gunan who gave everything to help rescue the boys as a volunteer. Samam lost his life after delivering stage cylinders into the cave for others but he didn't have enough air for himself to make it back out. This is what a true hero looks like. God bless and rest in peace

Well the rescue has begun this morning. Our hopes and thoughts are with the 12 children and their coach during this difficult operation. Huge respect for all the courageous divers, many of whom are volunteers risking their own life to help get these boys out especially the three British divers running the operation. It's a challenging rescue like nothing ever seen before. One of those volunteer divers Saman Gunan a Thai ex navy seal diver has already made the ultimate sacrifice and our thoughts are with his family

The more you dive, the luckier you get, what an amazing encounter, this is why we dive

User

And this why we dive with dolphins instead of surfing. A busy night at the club tonight with new joiners attending and try divers diving. Come down and say hello to the IKSAC team

User

Congratulations to Mark Poole on attaining his Advanced Open Water Certificate last week and breaking his longest dive record twice

Sarah Petter shared a memory.
First diving trip to Egypt 7 years ago with IKSAC. The first of many... and all still as brilliant as that one.

Fantastic week diving in Egypt on board the MY Mistral Liveaboard doing the Wrecks & Reefs tour. Brilliant to see new & old members diving together but especially good to see the newer divers experience their first Red Sea and Liveaboard diving. I've started the ball rolling with 99 photos and hopefully got everyone in but please send me any favourite photos and I'll add them to the album, best wishes CBN
