Industrial Communities Alliance

About Industrial Communities Alliance

The Industrial Communities Alliance is the local authority association campaigning on behalf of councils in the industrial areas of England, Scotland and Wales. Our areas include many of the most deprived in the country, with a wide range of problems that can be traced back to job loss and economic restructuring, including former textile, shipbuilding and manufacturing areas. The Alliance was formed in 2007 from the merger of the longer-standing associations covering coal and steel areas. The Alliance builds on nearly twenty-five years experience of effective lobbying to promote the economic, social and environmental renewal of the areas covered by its member authorities, working in Westminster, Cardiff, Edinburgh and Brussels. Over sixty local authorities in England, Scotland and Wales make up the membership of the Industrial Communities Alliance. OUR AIMSTo articulate the needs of Britain's industrial areas to a wide range of government, parliamentary and EU bodies. To attract resources to assist in the economic, social and environmental regeneration of these areas. To press for balanced growth within and between regions. To provide a framework for information sharing and collaborative working between member authorities.
