Pigmentation Problems ... Such a common concern for many woman. Melasma is a pigment disorder, presenting as irregular patches of dark pigmentation on the face, which typically presents in adult females. Also called “chloasma” or the “pregnancy mask”, there are many different causes. The most common are a combination of hormones (hence it is often triggered during pregnancy) sun exposure and genetic predisposition. Other factors that can affect it are thyroid conditions and... stress. If left untreated, it can progress and get worse. For most women, melasma is also a recurring problem. There is currently no “cure” so we seek to manage the symptoms.
The autumn is the perfect time to treat Melasma once you have no further sun exposure/holidays but daily SPF must still be worn as long side prescription skincare regime.
