Seasonal Affective Disorder (commonly known as SAD) is a type of winter depression or –“winter blues”- that affects approximately 7 % of the UK population during autumn and winter as the days become shorter and sunlight becomes scarce. Seasonal Afffective Disorder can be very disruptive for those suffering from it- it can lead to depression, eating disorders, fatigue and anxiety. To help beat seasonal affective disorder and provide more comfort to SAD sufferers, Innolux has come forward with a range of innovative and beautifully designed SAD lightboxes.
Innolux began with the passion to provide “good light” to individuals residing in Finland- where sunlight tends to be very scarce. In his early 20’s, Jukka Jokiniemi, was diagnosed with an incurable eye condition that would gradually leave him blind. However, this did not put down the young and ambitious engineer, who then dedicated his career for good light.
Jukka Jokiniemi gradually and successfully built his company together with talented top Finnish designers as well as bright light therapy specialists, to become a leading provider of Seasonal Affective Disorder Lightboxes in the Finnish market.
