Teaching:
I have taught counselling at Levels 2, 3 and 4 (Diploma level) for 5 years in Further Education establishments and gained my teaching qualification during that time (2011).
My passion is two-fold; counselling clients and teaching students how to counsel people effectively and professionally that they can become professional qualified counsellors. Seeing the growth and development of clients is such a rewarding experience, coupled with watching the growth and development of many of the students I have taught has made my joint career one of the most rewarding things I have done.

About me:

Counselling:

Trained and qualified counsellor with eight years’ experience of working in the NHS, Private psychiatric hospital, educational setting and private practice. I have worked with clients presenting with many different concerns including but not limited to:

• Addiction
• Anger
• Bereavement and loss
• Depression
• Domestic abuse
o Emotional
o Physical
o Sexual
• Self-injury
• Sexual abuse
• Trauma and PTSD

I started training on my first course (level 2) when I was 42 years old. It was my first time back in education since leaving at 16 and the best career decision I have made.

I have been working in the counselling sector for many years and have a wealth of education and experience to offer my clients. I am a member of the BACP and attend monthly supervision in accordance with the requirements of their ethical framework.
Successful counselling requires a lot of experience and specific training as well as a good working alliance with the client.

I offer a safe, professional and confidential service for clients where I work in accordance with the Ethical Framework of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). http://www. bacp. co. uk /

My training was in Humanistic counselling and it's ethos is optimism about human nature. It's belief is that everyone has the potential to grow, given the right conditions. Part of my counselling is about providing some of those conditions. I work as an integrative counsellor. I hold current Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Humanistic counselling encompasses theories such as Person Centred, Gestalt, Psychosynthesis and Transactional Analysis (TA). I also use Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) which forms part of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) since attending an Albert Ellis workshop in 2002 in Manhattan at the Albert Ellis Institute.

Diploma in the Theory and Practice of Counselling (Humanistic)
